Business idea in need of critique:

A tour company/rental property, where I set up a remote hill country cabin with all the amenities necessary to do multiple-day supported dirt road cycling excursions in the beautiful forested hills of Humboldt County. Levels of my involvement range from self sufficient groups renting the cabin for a few days and I facilitate stocking the cabin, to full sprinter van mechanical support, local guides, and three meals a day.

Most guided touring companies in California seem to be interested in providing a luxury experience where everything outside the cycling is provided, the roads are well trafficked and accessible, and the routes are well known. This would be more of a backcountry guide experience, highlighting the potential for adventure and exclusivity in challenging and beautiful routes that few people get to ride because of their isolation. The house would not be a luxury experience, but it would have several good beds, private cabins set off from the main house, and the food would be good and plenty. Local food and drink. In other words, rustic but comfortable. It would have everything you'd need to maintain and store bikes during tours.

Ideally, the house would be situated close to good mountain bike trails and be accessible a within a day's ride from the coast and a three-ish hour drive from civilization and resupply. Potential renters could include product launches and corporate trips for those in the industry, and possible rental by other tour companies.

Is there potential at least in the idea of a cycling-oriented rental property in such a remote area? Do guided tours on the dirt pose problems in terms of liability? Is the crowd interested in backcountry/fireroad/gravel road riding willing to travel and pay for good experiences? People wanting to ride dirt roads seem a bit more self-reliant than your normal roadie crowd and may not have any interest in guided tours. There's no cute coffee shop around the corner.

Plenty of people here have experience which might obtain. Thoughts from the peanut gallery? I think this is possible, but it'd need to be possible to make it my main gig.
