The Urban Lounge and Jammyland are on the way
Two more bars are headed downtown, helping make Main Street as booze soaked a destination as their Fremont Street rival.
Joining under construction quick serve taquéria Tacos Huevos inside the former Corner Store Furniture Co. space will be The Urban Lounge, a 1,588-square foot tavern. Current paperwork does not request any outdoor patio space, unlike Tacos Huevos who will feature seating right on Main Street.
The Urban Lounge will be on the same block as ReBar, a short work further south and currently in soft open mode and the Velveteen Rabbit almost directly across the street. They will also join close neighbors Artifice, which bills itself as an "urban lounge" and the still under construction King Hippo, yet another self-described "urban lounge" inside the former vintage clothing store The Attic.
Another short walk from the Corner Building, this time north along Main Street takes you to number 1121, which plans to be home to Jammyland. Their tavern will occupy 2,315-square-foot inside, plus 2,850-square-foot of outdoor space.
Jammyland will be operated by Danielle Crouch and Allan Katz, who both formerly worked with Tony Abou-Ganim at Bar Milano in New York and most recently at the private membership bar Caña Rum Bar in downtown Los Angeles.
Both ventures have yet to be announced or reveal a timetable for completion.
But if you are looking forward to a cheaper Main Street alcohol fix, a convenience store selling both beer and wine is also being planned, set to fit into the vacant building space directly across from King Hippo. Original plans for the Hippo lounge had sought permission to operate a small "liquor store" within the tavern.
