• URBAN DECAY SUMMER 2014 •

“Chaos-inducing color meets blacker-than-black liners.” – Urban Decay

Whether you love to get your color on or you prefer to go classic with black (or a little of both!) you must take a look at the Urban Decay Collection for Summer 2014.  Urban Decay introduces their Electric pressed pigment palette filled with brighter-than-bright colors that are perfection for summer but just as equally exciting are four new black eyeliner formulas to choose from – and as we all know, Urban Decay knows how to do eyeliner!  Let’s not forget two new limited edition Nail Colors as well – and these are simply summer perfection!  I can’t wait to see some of these pieces in person, but for now let’s look at photos and press information from this new collection:

• ELECTRIC PALETTE •

Urban Decay Electric Palette, $49 US

Electric Pressed Pigment Palette – top: Revolt, Gonzo, Slowburn, Savage, Fringe; bottom: Chaos, Jilted, Urban, Freak, Thrash

From Urban Decay:

THE SKINNY: As much as we love Naked, we’re serious color junkies at heart. When we launched The Vice Palette and saw how CRAZY everyone went over Chaos (a brilliant matte blue), we realized our fans craved bright shades as much as us. Inspired by Chaos, Urban Decay launches Electric Pressed Pigment Palette. The ultimate fix for color addicts, this gorgeous palette is packed with ten of the brightest, most amazing shades you’ve ever laid eyes on. In addition to Chaos (yes, it’s back!), this palette marks the return of Revolt (a silver standout from our Anarchy Face Case). All the other shades are NEW! From ultrasmooth mattes to highly dimensional shimmers, each VELVETY shade delivers insane color payout. Why do a Pressed Pigment Palette? Using pressed pigments was the only way to create heavily saturated brights with the intense pigment load we craved. Traditional eyeshadow formulas just wouldn’t cut it.

HYPE: If you’ve tried seemingly bright shades like these before, you know that a lot of them appear brilliant in the pan, but in reality look chalky, lack smooth application and don’t look anywhere near as vibrant on your eye. Not so with Electric. We carefully crafted the formula on every shade to make sure each one would apply with a soft and creamy texture and deliver serious color payout. Wende can’t get enough of Jilted (an unbelievable bright metallic fuchsia with a blue shift). And our Product Development team is really into Fringe (a gorgeous, bright metallic teal), Urban (the most amazing bright metallic purple) and Freak (a bright green with a gold shift, inspired by our 24/7 Eye Pencil shade).

NICE PACKAGE: The case is as cool as the shades inside. Emblazoned with “ELECTRIC,” this slim, sleek palette features a vivid, dimensional, multilayered smoke-screen print reminiscent of the shades inside. And the mirror is huge! Electric Pressed Pigment Palette also includes our NEW cruelty-free, double-ended pressed pigment brush (an all-black brush with bright purple synthetic brush fibers). On one end: a compact precision brush that’s perfect for applying color with amazing control. Use it to line, blend and smudge. On the other end: a small pigment brush. Use it to apply color all over the lid or in the crease.

BREAK IT DOWN: Every shade in our Electric Pressed Pigment Palette features our Pigment Infusion System™, the proprietary blend of ingredients that gives each shade its velvety texture, rich color, serious staying power and blendability.

• 4 NEW BLACK LINERS •

24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Black Velvet, $20 US

From Urban Decay:

THE SKINNY: Searching for the perfect liner to complement the ever-popular UD smoky eye? You’re in luck. Urban Decay launches 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil—an ultra velvety, PLUSH version of our legendary 24/7 Eye Pencil. The ideal weapon for smoky-eye fanatics, this new and EXCLUSIVE waterproof formula provides the same long-lasting wear you’ve come to expect from 24/7—but with a soft, smoky finish. More powdery than our bestselling 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil, 24/7 Velvet blends easier to create soft, smoky edges. Use 24/7 Velvet to create perfectly blended-out or rich, precise lines.

HYPE: Like most makeup junkies, we’re addicted to smoky eyes—and we’re always looking for new ways to refine our technique. Hence, 24/7 Velvet! We reach for this pencil when we’re doing a smoky, rimmed eye (or whenever we want to create a look that’s more matte and soft).

NICE PACKAGE: To make 24/7 Velvet easier to spot in your bag, we gave it a shade-matched barrel and gunmetal accents on the cap and base (instead of silver accents like our traditional 24/7 Pencils).

BREAK IT DOWN: This velvety formula contains moisturizing jojoba oil. And it’s paraben-free.

All Nighter Eyeliner in Perversion, $20 US

From Urban Decay:

THE SKINNY: When you need your eyeliner to really perform, you’ve got to bring in the big guns. Urban Decay introduces All Nighter Eyeliner. This twist-up liner lays down intense, ultra shiny, blacker-thanblack lines that REALLY last. Like our award-winning 24/7 Eye Pencils, the soft, CREAMY formula glides on smoothly. And true to its name, once our All Nighter Eyeliner dries down, it’s not going anywhere! The waterproof formula won’t smudge or budge. The shade: our iconic black shade Perversion. (Because like most women, we have a perverse addiction to black liner.)

HYPE: As you’d expect, our office is full of hardcore product junkies who expect a lot from their makeup. But even the most jaded types were blown away by how long All Nighter Eyeliner lasted. It’s our go-to eyeliner for travel, because it’s perfect for applying on the run. (No need to carry a sharpener around or deal with messy pencil shavings.)

NICE PACKAGE: Like our 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils, All Nighter Eyeliner features a shade-matched barrel that’s easy to spot in your bag.

BREAK IT DOWN: This waterproof formula contains moisturizing vitamin E. AND it’s also vegan!

Super Saturated Cream Liner in Perversion, $22 US

From Urban Decay:

THE SKINNY: Want a liner that lets you call all the shots? Urban Decay introduces Super-Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner. Create super-precise lines or smudged, smoky lines. Super-Saturated lays down tons of intense, lasting color in one stroke. The soft, creamy formula is easy to use, dries down quickly and gives you a controlled, precise application every time. And it features triple black pigments—for the purest, deepest, most intense black color imaginable.

HYPE: We’re hooked on how much control we get with Super-Saturated Eyeliner (particularly when we use it with our new Perversion Angled Brush). And the cream formula is insanely versatile! For the perfect application, dip into the pot with your brush, then wiggle Super-Saturated Eyeliner down into your lash line to get a really tight, precise line. Use it to add a little definition to your lash line or smudge it to create bold, thick lines. Women who haven’t mastered the cat eye yet will have an easier time perfecting their technique with this formula. Just glide it on, creating a line that extends a little past the outer corner, then flick it slightly upward. You can also use Super-Saturated Eyeliner to create the outline for a cat eye and then fill it in with a pencil or liquid liner.

NICE PACKAGE: This creamy formula comes in a clear glass pot and has a highly metallized gunmetal cap that’s debossed with the UD logo.

BREAK IT DOWN: Super-Saturated Eyeliner contains nourishing jojoba oil, which provides moisture and gives the formula its creamy glide. And it’s paraben-free.

Ink for Eyes Liner in Perversion, $20 US

From Urban Decay:

THE SKINNY: We’re all for the glossy black liner look, but if you’ve ever resorted to lining your eyes with a Sharpie (Taylor Swift, we’re looking at you!), it’s time for an eyeliner intervention. Urban Decay introduces Ink for Eyes. Draw intense, shiny, blacker-than-black lines with absolute precision. Ink for Eyes has an ultra fine tip for a smooth, controlled application every time. Whether you want razor-thin lines, winged cat eyes or bold, dramatic lines, Ink for Eyes does it all. Our long-wearing formula glides on smoothly (without skipping or pulling) and dries down to an ultra waterproof finish that won’t smudge, run or feather. And the color payoff is insane! The best part?

HYPE: Ink for Eyes is really forgiving and so EASY to use (just like a marker)—perfect for everyone from beginners all the way to experts. And unlike the dreaded Sharpie, it’s actually removable. Ink for Eyes is already a hot commodity around our office and has EVERYONE obsessed! Word has it that there’s NO better tool for creating a bold, super-precise cat eye. Our Product Development team says Ink for Eyes is their go-to liner for creating a really dramatic look, because the precise tip lays down ultra precise, intensely black lines that LAST. While wearing Ink for Eyes, a UD employee took a late-night dip in the ocean with a “friend”; when she emerged a short while later, her liner hadn’t budged. (We can’t say the same for her bikini.)

NICE PACKAGE: Ink for Eyes comes in a gorgeous, highly metallized gunmetal component that’s easy to spot in your bag. The color flows smoothly every time—no need to shake the barrel first. And wait until you try our fine felt tip. It gives you insane amounts of control! Even liner newbies can draw perfect lines with Ink for Eyes. In no time, they’re laying down color in between lashes like total pros.

BREAK IT DOWN: This long-wearing, waterproof formula is paraben-free.

• NEW HEAVY METAL LOOSE GLITTER & BONDAGE WEIGHTLESS MAKEUP ADHESIVE•

Heavy Metal Glitter in Catfight, a pink glitter – $12 US

Heavy Metal Glitter in Goldmine, a bright yellow-gold glitter – $12 US

Heavy Metal Glitter Top: Loaded, a bright, deep green glitter and Pyrotechnics, an iridescent glitter Bottom: Reverb, a bright, deep blue glitter and ACDC, a bright purple glitter $12 US each.

From Urban Decay:

THE SKINNY: Glitter is like the cilantro of the beauty world. You either dig it, mess factor and all (like we do), or you don’t. For those of you who are firmly planted in the glitter camp, Urban Decay introduces Heavy Metal Loose Glitter. Apply these amazing, easy-to-use loose glitters on top of our new Bondage Weightless Makeup Adhesive for a full-on jewel-encrusted effect that LASTS all day (with very little fallout). What’s Bondage, you ask? A clear, water-based adhesive that sets and holds glitter amazingly well. This gentle, comfortable formula stays put until you take it off (using only water!). Just brush it on, quick and easy, then pack Heavy Metal Loose Glitter on top of it. Bondage has a light, thin feel, and doesn’t get sticky or gummy after dry-down like some makeup adhesives can. This formula is surprisingly versatile, and you can use it ANYWHERE. (We’ll just let you imagine the possibilities.)

HYPE: Were it not for our Bondage Weightless Makeup Adhesive ($14 US), Heavy Metal Loose Glitter might not even exist! After we finally perfected the innovative technology behind Bondage, we went nuts thinking about all the cool ways we could use it. We’re always trying to come up with new ways to put glitter all over our faces, and we suddenly had the perfect adhesive to do it!

NICE PACKAGE: Heavy Metal Loose Glitter comes in a clear jar (so you can see all the gorgeous glitter inside) topped with a highly metalized gunmetal cap. Bondage Weightless Makeup Adhesive comes in a sleek tube with a luxe, highly metalized gunmetal finish. The perfect nylon brush gives you a precise application every time.

BREAK IT DOWN: Our water-based Bondage Weightless Makeup Adhesive rinses off easily with water, so there’s no need to hassle with makeup removers. And when you take the Bondage off, the glitter comes off easily too. Bondage is also alcohol- and paraben-free.

• NAIL COLOR •

Limited Edition Nail Color in Bang – a “bright orange with subtle floating iridescent pearl”

Limited Edition Nail Color in Chaos – a “vibrant cobalt blue with floating tonal pearl”

From Urban Decay:

THE SKINNY: Inspired by the amazing brights in our new Electric Pressed Pigment Palette, Urban Decay launches two never-before-seen, unbelievably gorgeous shades of Nail Color—Chaos (yes, THAT Chaos!) and Bang. Chaos, the most highly coveted Eyeshadow shade from our original, sold-out Vice Palette (currently exclusive to our Electric Palette), is an amazing, vibrant cobalt blue. Bang, another iconic UD shade, is a beautiful bright orange. Extremely on trend, these are two of the hottest colors this season (and the perfect pairing for the shades in the Electric Palette). If you’ve ever rocked a bright blue or orange nail polish, you know that shades like these can be tough to wear. But that’s not the case with Chaos and Bang. Both shades have a cool floating pearl effect—for a really sophisticated vibe with a ton of dimension and interest. These are complex, unique shades that you have to see to believe!

HYPE: This season, we wanted to do two really bright, fun nail shades. Chaos was a no-brainer because it’s everyone’s favorite (and we predict the Nail Color will be just as popular as the Eyeshadow). Ultra sophisticated and EXTREMELY limited edition, every gorgeous, decadent (and very UD) shade of Nail Color features complex shade work and super-rich pigments. Every few months, Wende and our Product Development team will handpick two new shades that reflect their take on the season. But get them soon—because once they’re gone, they’re gone for good!

NICE PACKAGE: Each full-size bottle of Nail Color features our custom-designed cap topped with a skull (complete with roses for the eyes), with “Urban Decay” embossed on the side. With 10 ml of nail polish in each bottle, there’s plenty of color to last all season long. And wait until you try our high-performance, 400-strand brush. The fine strands pick up more product than other brushes, grabbing on to color to give you a clean, even and controlled laydown of polish. Incredibly precise, this brush even makes painting the outer corners of your nails easy.

BREAK IT DOWN: Long-wearing and chip-resistant, our formula has a high-gloss finish that’s tough and durable, yet flexible. And each shade is 3-free—formulated without toluene, formaldehyde or DBP.

WOW!  I have to say this collection is quite intense with all of that color, glitter, and colorful nails!  I’m most excited about all of the new eyeliner formulas and I think one of these new nail polishes just might be my first nail color purchase from Urban Decay…now I have to decide which one!

Which pieces from Urban Decay’s Summer 2014 Collection have got your eye?  I’d love to know!
