Fall just isn’t the same without a little matte lip action, and Charlotte Tilbury is bringing it to us in her signature Hollywood glam style. With luxe rose gold packaging, the new line of Luminous Modern-Matte Long-Lasting Lipsticks offer a soft matte lip experience that is not overly drying. The 10 colors of Matte Revolution lipsticks partner with Tilbury’s 10 Iconic Makeup Looks, which are inspired by Hollywood icons from the past and present.
Let’s take a look at two of the 10 available shades as well as two of the Lip Cheat Lip Liners, which now have five new additions in deeper tones.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipsticks and Lip Cheat Lip Liner
The formula of the Luminous Modern-Matte lipsticks contain softening ingredients from Lipstick Tree and Orchid extracts. The feeling on the lips is lightweight and a good mix of “creamy” and “mousse-y” feeling. It glides on extremely well, and although I was a bit worried it might look messy on the edges of the lips, I was pleasantly surprised to find it behaves quite nicely, and with the square shape of the bullet was very easy to stay within my lip lines.
I was curious to read that this lipstick has “3D glowing pigments” in it, but don’t think sparkles or glitter – in fact the glisten is nearly indiscernible when looking at a swatch closely, yet I can see a difference on the lips vs. a regular matte lipstick.
Now let’s take a look at some swatches and how they look on the lips.

Lost Cherry
Lost Cherry is a warm, soft matte red. It is kind of retro feeling to me and is one of those summer/spring type shades that I gravitate toward when I’m wearing simple face makeup and winged liner.
Love Liberty
Love Liberty is a deep berry plum that is surprisingly wearable, and most definitely perfection for fall and winter. I thought it would be hard to pull off for me, but I’m definitely loving it!
Love Liberty + Crazy In Love
To up the vamp, I’m wearing Crazy In Love Lip Cheat, which is a deep rosey brown shade. When Love Liberty is applied on top the deep berry is intensified, making it super long-lasting too!

While typically “long-lasting” or “matte” scare my lips away, the Modern Matte lipsticks from Charlotte Tilbury are taking matte lipstick to a whole new level. I’m pleased with the application, wear time and the feeling on the lips that stays put, gives me the matte look I want and I love the color range (I’m eyeing a nude!) I know this is going to be a go-to all fall and winter!
