Happy Friday! I was so happy when my beautiful and supportive friend Jana Bek reached out to me asking if I wanted to participate in her #CameraReadyInteriors blogging event. Today, myself and 23 talented interior designers/decorators are sharing posts celebrating the photographers who capture our work so beautifully.
Photographers bring their great eye (and camera equipment!) to a project and see things that we, the designer, may not. I’m highlighting a few of the photographers I have worked with over the years. As a designer, it’s important to spend the money on a professional photographer to capture your work. It’s what prospective clients see and is paramount to growing your business. It’s very easy to tell if photos are professionally shot – the lighting, the crispness and the composition are a few things you notice in professionally photographed spaces.
Stephani Buchman Photography
Steph is not only a talented photographer but a beautiful person as well. On our last shoot together this past April, she left a long letter expressing her condolences on the passing of my husband and shared some personal stories as well. I really appreciated her comforting words and sentiment. Her portfolio is stunning and she has had her work featured in many publications. We have had our photos published in four different magazines, two in the US including Redbook.
The photos of the kitchen above captured the attention of Style at Home magazine who published the photos in one of their special issues in late 2014.
This bathroom was a well loved bathroom in print and online. But can you notice something about the photo that attests to Stephani’s amazing photoshop skills? I have never mentioned this but one of the wall sconces didn’t arrive in time for the photo shoot so Stephani used her magic to create it from two different angles. Can you tell which one is the “fake” wall sconce?
Angus Fergusson
I have worked with Angus on two occasions when he was hired by the magazines that were publishing my work. He is absolutely hilarious and made the shoots so much fun. His work has been featured numerous times in dozens of high calibre publications. When both magazines informed me that he would be the photographer, I was thrilled as I knew his work well. Leah Kirin Photography
Leah is a portrait photographer who I met when both our girls were in dance together. When I found out she was a photographer, I asked if she would consider shooting some interiors for me and she gladly agreed – turns out they were mostly bathrooms. Leah shoots very quickly with minimal equipment but the photos speak for themselves. She was the first photographer I worked with many years ago.
