Spontaneous Fantasia, 5:30-6:30 and 8:30-9:30

J-Walt – a performer, interactive designer, filmmaker, graphic artist and composer – will present this live, virtual-reality performance, a new art form that combines aspects of animation, dance, music, theater and architecture. Los Angeles Times: “Animated trippy landscapes, gestural shapes moving through 3-D graphic spaces…” Tickets: adults $15; seniors (62 and older) and children under 12, $12.

Friday, January 9

ArtMosphere, 7:00-11:00

Live jazz by the Steve Adelson Stick-tet, plus paintings by 25 regional artists, will fill the lobby of the Vanderbilt Museum’s Charles and Helen Reichert Planetarium for ArtMosphere. The event is free – view the art and enjoy the music. ArtMosphere is presented by musician and producer Rich Rivkin.

The Liverpool Shuffle, 7:30 and 10:00

This Beatles tribute band, a regional favorite, will perform an hour of classic songs live, accompanied by a montage of 1960s images on the Planetarium dome. Tickets: $30 person person.

Valentine’s Day Dinner, 6:00 and 8:00

Enjoy a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner in the Vanderbilt Mansion, the grand 25-room house where Hollywood stars and European royalty once dined with members of one of America’s most famous families. Tickets for this fund-raising event: $100 per person; $90 for Members.

Winter School-Recess Workshops for Children

Vanderbilt Museum educators lead these fun, creative sessions for Pre-K and Grades 1-4. Programs begin with visits to the marine, natural-history and cultural-artifact galleries and wild-animal habitats, which inspire the hands-on artistic projects that follow. Pre-registration required. Member discount.

Easter Bunny Breakfast, 9:00-12:00

Enjoy breakfast with the Easter Bunny for children of all ages. Includes Egg Hunt, Bonnet and Basket Parade, Planetarium show. Tickets: adults $30, members $25; children $18, Members $15.

Midsummer Night Dances, 6:30-9:30

Popular summer dances are held in the Celebration Tent most Thursday evenings. Ballroom and other types of dancing are featured, with instructors teaching a new dance step each week. Light dinner fare included. Admission: $30 at door; $25 in advance. Season tickets available.

Sunday, June 7

Woodstock Revival III, 12:00-6:00

This annual outdoor summer concert – several dozen artists painting to live music – is a benefit for museum education programs. Concert-goers bring beach chairs, blankets and picnic lunches. Tickets: adults $25 online, $35 at door; children ages 5 to 12, $10, under 5, free.

27th Annual Summer Shakespeare Festival

Presented by the Arena Players Repertory Theater on the Vanderbilt Mansion courtyard stage on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings. Details to be announced.

Alex Torres and His Latin Orchestra, 6:00 to 10:00

For the ninth summer, the orchestra will perform (rain or shine) Spicy Sounds for a Hot Night. Bring a picnic, take a club-style Latin dance lesson, and listen and dance to the music of these renowned musicians and recording artists. Tickets: $25 online, $30 at door.

Jaguar-MG Classic Car Show, 11:00-4:00

The Jaguar Drivers Club of L.I. and the MG Car Club-Long Island Centre present their annual Concours d’ Elegance. Members free. Visitors pay general admission fee (adults $7, students with ID and seniors (62 and older) $6, children 12 and under $3). No additional charge for car show.

This free event, open to the public, features carols and holiday favorites by the Northport Chorale, followed by the lighting of the tree and the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Cookies and hot chocolate are served.

Friday, November 27 – Tuesday, January 5

Tours of Decorated Vanderbilt Mansion, 12:00-4:00

Beginning the day after Thanksgiving visitors can take guided tours of the Mansion, decked in holiday elegance by volunteer designers and decorators. Tickets: $5, plus general admission adults ($7, seniors 62 and older and students with ID, $6. Members free.

Saturday, December 5

Holiday Dinner in Vanderbilt Mansion, Seatings at 6:00-7:30 and 8:00-9:30

This popular fund-raising event in the festively decorated Mansion is time-machine trip to the elegant Gold Coast life of the 1930s. Tickets: $100; $90 for Members.
