Apple hosted their highly-anticipated event today in California where the Cupertino-based tech giant unveiled their brand-new iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2, among other things. In addition to getting a first look at the massively-hyped iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus, their features and specifications, as well as a newly refreshed Apple Watch 2, Apple also announced the final release date for iOS 10, macOS Sierra, watchOS 3, and tvOS 10.
iOS 10, macOS Sierra, watchOS3, and tvOS coming out this month
Looking back to Apple’s historical release schedules for their products, one will find that the company tends to release their latest software upgrades alongside their newest, latest, and greatest devices. It makes sense, as there really is not a better way to promote the widespread uptake of iOS 10 to existing Apple device owners than to show how fast and seamless it works with that fancy new device.
With this in mind, just like last year’s release of iOS 9, Apple plans on releasing iOS 10 on September 13th, one week after today’s iPhone event, and of course a few days before the official release of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on September 16th.
Just like iOS 10, Apple plans on making both their watchOS 3 and tvOS 10 available worldwide to the general public this coming September 13th as well. However, macOS Sierra will be released on September 20th.
As has come to be expected, Apple’s iOS 10 mobile operating system is a free-of-charge update for all compatible iOS devices. The company’s watchOS and tvOS will also filter through to all Apple Watches, and the fourth-generation Apple TV, respectively, on the same day, and presumably at the same time, which will most likely be 10:00 AM Pacific Time.
Apple introducing countless new features for OS systems on all its platforms
With the upcoming iOS 10, Apple has introduced a new platform with many important changes, including a completely redone Messages application, as well as interactive notifications, among other things.
macOS Sierra will provide a new, converged desktop experience with other platforms, and it also benefits from the inclusion of Siri. Additionally, the OS contains new features like a universal clipboard and an Auto-Unlock feature, allowing Macs to be unlocked by Apple Watches in close proximity.
In addition to these platforms, watchOS 3 will benefit from a large speed upgrade when loading applications, in addition to a more intuitive and improved mapping experience.
Apple’s brand-new tvOS 10 contains many new features, including a brand-new Dark Mode as well as a more powerful and intuitive Siri experience, HomeKit support, and single Sign-On.
If you own any devices that are compatible with Apple’s upcoming OS upgrades, make sure to mark September 13th on your map and get the brand new experience as soon as possible.
