The original folk venue, the Cottage Club, situated in Mauritius Crescent, Capri Village, off Kommetjie Road, presents Kelpie – a Folk duo from Berlin on Saturday 26 April, 7.00 pm.
Kerstin Blodig is regarded as one of the most important interpreters of Scandinavian and Celtic world-music. She studied musicology and Scandinavian languages and cultures, with particular emphasis on Norwegian folk music. Today she tours all over the world – including major festivals, studio recordings, and regular TV appearances – with a wide variety of different projects, including the Celtic bands Talking Water and Norland Wind. She cultivates her Norwegian roots in the duo Kelpie, in her solo performances and her new Pan-Scandinavian all-women trio Huldrelokkk. Her debut solo CD Valivann won the renowned German Critics Prize 2002. After the success of her 2nd solo album Trollsang, she released her third solo CD Nordisk Sjel.
Ian Melrose from Scotland is a renowned guitarist, composer, arranger and producer in the European acoustic scene. Live- and studio projects have included Clannad (world-tour 1996, Grammy-Award-winning CD Landmarks 1998), with Kerstin in Kelpie, Talking Water and Norland Wind trio, the Duggan brothers (producer, arranger of “Rubicon” album 2005). Solo appearances at many major festivals including Montreal Jazz Festival (CAN) and Celtic Connections in Glasgow (Scotland). He has made 5 solo CDs including his latest world-music opus, Around the Corner in 80 minutes, and two duet albums with accordion virtuoso Manfred Leuchter on Acoustic Music Records.

Unfortunately we will charge you for your booking should you not cancel in time (the day prior), as we do have a standby list. We have a list of people who we turn away and it’s unfair on those who we turn away when people who have pre-booked don’t turn up. We pay musicians a set fee so if there are empty seats we still pay! So please confirm your booking or cancel in time for us to fill the space.
