Barbara L. (Lynch) Lermond, 91, of Whitinsville, Mass. passed away on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 in the St. Camillus Health Center in Whitinsville. She was the wife of the late Roy S. Lermond who died in February.
Mrs. Lermond was a Registered Nurse and had been employed at the Whitinsville Hospital in Whitinsville, Grafton State Hospital in Grafton and the Hahnemann Hospital in Worcester. Barbara also worked at the Valley Adult Counseling Center in Milford until her retirement in 1986.
Barbara was born October 14, 1924 in Worcester, daughter of the late Napoleon J. and Alice M. (Bullard) Lynch and was a graduate of Millbury High School, Class of 1941. She was also a graduate of the former Hahnemann School of Nursing, Class of 1946 and Anna Maria College in Paxton, Class of 1977 where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master’s Degree in Counseling. She had been a resident of Millbury before moving to Whitinsville in 1946.
Mrs. Lermond was a longtime member of the United Presbyterian Church, the Kathryn M. Huston Society and the Northbridge Senior Center. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post # 343 in Northbridge and a former member of the Whitinsville Women’s Club. Barbara was an avid swimmer.
Mrs. Lermond is survived by her son, Bruce H. and his wife Linda Lermond of Northbridge, her daughter, Karen A. Thomas of Woonsocket, RI; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Stephan Grumbach and her sister, Virginia Vickery.
