Apart from smartphones, Xiaomi has a growing ecosystem of mobile accessories and these include the likes of wearables and power banks among others. Recently, the company announced that the Mi Band 2 and 10,000mAh Mi Power Bank were among the top sellers on Amazon India during the recently concluded Diwali sales. Now, the Chinese company has launched the next-gen version of its 10,00mAh Mi Power Bank, and it calls it the 10,000mAh Mi Power Bank Pro.
The Mi Power Bank Pro is currently listed on Xiaomi’s mi.com website, with a price tag of Rs 1,999. But at the time of filing the story, the power bank is not on sale. The 10,000mAh Power Bank Pro was earlier launched in China, and is a big upgrade over the existing 10,000mAh Mi Power Bank. The Pro variant sports a thickness of 12.58mm, which is 42 percent thinner than its predecessor. Among the highlights of the Mi Power Bank Pro is the USB Type-C port and support for fast charging. The power bank comes with two-way charging feature, and Xiaomi says it is smart enough to adjust power output to safely charge each connected device.
Xiaomi has also given an example to show how the Mi Power Bank Pro saves power. Xiaomi has compared charging an Android device with 3,090mAh battery with 5V/2A power banks and with its own 10,000mAh Power Bank Pro. Time taken for charging with the 5V/2A power banks is two hours and 30 minutes, but with the Mi Bank Pro it only takes an hour and 50 minutes, which equals to 25 percent of time saved. Xiaomi has also listed an example of time taken to charge a 5V/2A power bank which is six hours and a Mi Power Bank Pro is three-and-a-half hours. That equals to time saved by 40 percent.
The Xiaomi 10,000mAh Power Bank also comes with low power charging feature for charging devices with low power for safety reasons. Devices such as Bluetooth headsets or fitness bands which require low power charging, and to do so, one just needs to double press the power button which would automatically convert into 2-hour low power charging. The 10,000mAh batteries in the Mi Power Bank Pro are high-density lithium polymer batteries which the company says can fully charge a 3,000mAh Android phone 2.5 times, an iPhone 6 four times and iPad Mini 1.5 times. In comparison, the Mi Power Bank is capable of charging an iPhone 6 up to 3.5 times on a single charge and an Apple iPad mini once on a single charge.
Additionally, the Mi Power Bank Pro’s USB smart-control chips and charging/discharging chips are built by Texas Instruments. It also provides nine layers of circuit chip protection and also enhances charging efficiency. Also on board are protection from output over-current, output overvoltage protection, protection from overcharge and over-discharge, PTC protective circuits for the Cell. Adding to the ‘world-class’ chips, Xiaomi also promises 93 percent conversion rate along with stabilizing discharging voltage.
The Xiaomi Mi Power Bank Pro comes in a double anodized aluminum case which has a matte polish and smooth surface aimed at better hand feel. It also comes with shiny CNC-finished edges which is evident in premium smartphones. Xiaomi says that its high precision CNC cutting tools used to create the aluminum case can withstand collisions and up to 2,000 pressure.
The Xiaomi Mi Power Bank Pro is currently listed on the official website and the Mi store, but unfortunately it is out of stock. With its Diwali sale coming up from October 17 to October 19, the Mi Power Bank Pro will probably go up on sale that time as Xiaomi plans to offer up to 25 percent discount on accessories. Also up for grabs are Xiaomi smartphones which will be available during Re 1 flash sale. Along with it, Xiaomi will also launch the new Mi Max Prime smartphone.
