The following cultural events are scheduled for Oct. 27 – Nov. 2 at Mohawk Valley Community College.
On Monday, Oct. 28, MVCC will screen the horror/sci-fi thriller “The Purge” at 7 p.m., in the Schafer Theater, Information Technology Building on the Utica campus. The film will be shown on the Rome campus on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. in the Festine Auditorium. Admission is $5 general, $2 faculty/staff, FREE for MVCC students.
On Tuesday, Oct. 29, MVCC will present “Confession Tuesday Live,” with local life coach Rebeccah Silence and “Big Poppa” Gary Spears at 7 p.m., in the Schafer Theater, Information Technology Building on the Utica campus. Admission is $5 general, $2 faculty/staff, FREE for MVCC students. Based on the popular radio segment on KISS-FM, “Confession Tuesday Live” is an interactive show that allows audience members to submit questions and get answers.
On Wednesday, Oct. 30, ghost hunter Ross Allison will visit the Rome campus at 7 p.m. in the Festine Auditorium. Admission is $10 general, $5 faculty/staff, FREE for MVCC students. Visit rossallison.com for more information.
On Wednesday, Oct. 30, MVCC will host “Walking is Overrated,” by Matt Glowacki at 8 p.m. in the Schafer Theater, Information Technology Building on the Utica campus. Born in 1973 in Janesville, Wis., his birth drew attention because even though he was healthy, he was born without legs. Admission is $5 general, $2 faculty/staff, FREE for MVCC students. On Thursday, Oct. 31, MVCC will present ghost hunter Dave Considine at 7 p.m. in the Schafer Theater, Information Technology Building on the Utica campus. In his 25-year career, he has handled thousands of cases with his team involving human hauntings, elemental hauntings, poltergeists, preternatural encounters and abductions, demonic infestation, possession, exorcism and the occult. On Friday, Nov. 1, MVCC will screen the film “Kon-Tiki” at 7 p.m. in the Schafer Theater, Information Technology Building on the Utica campus. The film tells the story of legendary explorer Thor Heyerdal’s epic 4,300-mile crossing of the Pacific on a balsa wood raft in1947, in an effort to prove it was possible for South Americans to settle in Polynesia in pre-Columbian times. Admission is $5 general, $2 faculty/staff, FREE for MVCC students.
On Saturday, Nov. 2, the Bob Cesari Jazztet will perform at 7 p.m. in the MV Commons, Alumni College Center, on the Utica campus. Admission is $10 general, $5 faculty/staff, FREE for MVCC students. The event will feature round table seating, hors d’oeuvres, and an area for dancing.
