* _Internship Role & Responsibilities_*
A Certification Engineer Intern will work as part of a dynamic, fast-paced team responsible for flammability certification analysis and testing required to support aircraft seat product Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and FAA/EASA Technical Standard Order (TSO) approvals. This role interfaces with aircraft equipment OEMs such as Boeing and Airbus and directly impacts customer product delivery milestones.

Key responsibilities include:
* Develops TSO approval documentation including flammability substantiation documents, test plans, and test reports.

* Performs analyses of seat product designs to show and find compliance to 14 CFR 25.853(a), (c) and (d), as well as pertinent FAA and EASA Special Conditions and OEM industry Methods of Compliance (MoC).

* Interfaces directly with the program management, design, and structural/electrical certification organizations as part of a cross-functional team.

* Designs and conforms flammability test equipment and setup, and witnesses flammability testing.

* Supports flammability testing by designing, procuring, and conformity test articles.

* Interfaces with flammability testing vendors to facilitate flammability testing.

* Works closely with the program management department to support customer commercial considerations and program/project schedules.

Additionally, all Certification Engineer Interns will be responsible for one initiative project that spans the duration of their assignment. This initiative project will be communicated to the intern the first week of his/her assignment, and will have a direct impact to the flammability certification team capability, capacity, efficiency, etc. The intern will also be responsible for developing and giving a presentation to business leadership outlining the implementation of the initiative and technical/business impact of adoption.

* _Minimum Qualifications_*
* Minimum GPA  of 3.0

* Completion of sophomore year

* Enrollment in a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD program for the Fall 2016 semester in Engineering

* _Preferred Qualifications_*
* Completed coursework towards a Bachelor's, Master’s or PhD degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering

* Previous internships, research or project experience in relevant field

* _Desired Capabilities_*
* Excellent oral, written, and communication/presentation skills

* Shows initiative and sound judgment when working independently or in a team.

* Ability to collaborate in a team environment with multi-disciplinary members

* Ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders including Senior Leadership.
