* Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist*
* FUNCTION:*
The selected candidate will be responsible for the daily operation of the Safety and Environmental efforts to ensure resources are appropriately assigned and initiatives are developed, implemented and maintained to support safe and environmentally sound operation of the facility. This Safety Specialist will communicate EHS requirements and identify solutions with management and employees.
* Essential Responsibilities*
* As a minimum, ensure site compliance with applicable requirements for local, state and federal agencies such as OSHA, EPA and applicable agency standards as deemed needed to support site operations. Acts as liaison and escort for regulatory personnel visiting the site. Accommodate compliance investigations and coordinate resolution of any citations issued.
* Maintains and coordinates Contractor Safety Program.
* Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace. Survey to identify and evaluate occupational health, safety and environmental conditions. Conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. Provide advice and counsel concerning all city, state, and federal compliance regulations.
* Reviews new products, equipment, and processes for potential hazards and recommends modification before implementation.
* Develop controls for identified hazards. Coordinate the implementation of controls from results of hazard analysis. Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries.
* Direct or assist in the development of specialized education and training materials. Conduct specialized safety and environmental training programs to communicate hazard control information. Assist in new employee occupational health, safety and environmental orientation. Conduct Safety Committee meetings. Provide guidance and leadership to team members to ensure safety inspections are accomplished.
* Compile, analyze, interpret, and report accident, loss, and exposure statistical data; prepare comprehensive recommendations for corrective action to eliminate or minimize potential hazards. Review injury and property damage reports. Responsible for the overall administration of workers' compensation program in coordination with Human Resources.
* Direct environmental compliance programs related to hazardous wastes, air permitting, water pollution control, and community right-to-know programs.
* Incorporate essential occupational health, safety, and environmental requirements in all purchasing and control actions. Recommend the purchase of safety equipment and supplies.
* Maintain 5S program as the champion.
* Perform other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position.
* MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:*
* A BA/BS or AD degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or Environmental Sciences, or in a related field.
* Must have at least 4-6 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Must be a self-starter and ability to multitask.
* Must have knowledge or training in the following: occupational health, safety and environmental compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and standards.
* Must have experience in conducting training and maintaining training data base.

Training:
* Demonstrated knowledge of delivering hands on health, safety and environmental training.
* Ability to develop, implement, and coordinate comprehensive health and safety accident prevention programs.
Skills:
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (training, presentations, report writing).
* Ability to lead and direct teams and/or committees.
* Strong experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, or equivalent)
* Skilled in the standards, concepts, practices, and procedures within the health, safety and environmental fields.
* Ability to work at
* Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
Environment:
* Must be able to perform above duties listed in the plant and plant office.
* Will be exposed some dusty and noisy conditions periodically.
* Must be able to work with other safety personnel in corresponding plants to meet consistency.
* Must be able to travel periodically for training.
