CHICAGO – The third-round scenarios and locations have been announced for the 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Home teams are determined by a random selection process among those clubs that have applied to host and whose venues meet the minimum tournament requirements.
The U.S. Open Cup Third Round kicks off May 28 and features the 24 second-round winners and eight North American Soccer League clubs. Teams are matched geographically to play the winner of a specific second-round pairing. The winners of the remaining 16 second-round matches not paired with an NASL side will play against each other.
ussoccer.com will resume its “Game of the Round” coverage of the 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup when the Richmond Kickers (USL PRO) face Richmond-based RVA FC (NPSL) on Wednesday, May 14. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. ET at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond, Virginia.
