This position is that of a Police Officer assigned to Naval Weapons Station Earle, Colts Neck, New Jersey, Regional Security Directorate, Public Safety Program, Commander, Navy Region, Mid-Atlantic.   The duty location for this position is Naval Weapons Station (NWS) Earle in Colts Neck, NJ

KEY REQUIREMENTS

You must be a US Citizen.

Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance.

Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.

Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

This position is a drug-testing designated position (TDP).

You must obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

DUTIES:

Use Physical Security and/or Antiterrorism techniques and methods

Perform patrol duties to apply and enforce laws

Prepare written reports to document investigations

Use Physical Security and/or Antiterrorism techniques

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: enforcing laws, regulations, and/or policies; protecting the health, safety, privacy, or best interest of the public, staff, or others who may be at risk; completing reports and/or checklists;  responding to incidents, emergencies, and hostile or potentially hostile actions under close supervision; and performing Sentry, Antiterrorism, Force Protection, or Security duties to deter, detect and deny unauthorized access to installations, compounds, or facilities.

EDUCATION:

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE : Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.  Successfull completion of four (4) full years of undergraduate coursework leading to a bachelor's degree in Police Science, Criminology, General Law, Law Enforcement, or a comparable degree program related to the work of a Police Officer.

 

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.

 

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the qualification requirements if the applicant can provide documentation indicating that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States. It is the responsibility of the applicant to provide such evidence when applying.

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

 

Must attend and successfully complete the COMNAVREGMIDLANT Police Academy 14 week training course, 10 weeks are in Norfolk, VA, as scheduled by the command. Usually within the first month of hire. 

Must obtain and maintain a security clearance

 

 

 

Must pass annual Police Officer physical examination

Must meet Police Officer Psychiatric requirements

Must pass annual Police Officer Agility test

Drug testing designated position.  Subject to random drug and alcohol testing

Must possess and maintain a valid state issued driver’s license from your state of residence

This position is covered by the Lautenberg Act.  Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are ineligible for this position.

Must be able to wear all assigned Personal Protective Equipment including a respirator

Must obtain and maintain qualifications to use service related firearms and weapons

Must handle and carry a firearm when on duty

Must obtain and maintain qualifications for all assigned equipment, including Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection equipment

May be subject to call back and emergency overtime

May be required to wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards

Work may include second, third, rotating shifts, weekend, and holiday work
