The 2013 Mustang March Walk-a-Thon will be held on Friday, April 26 at 6 p.m. at Prairie Creek Elementary School. This year's event begins with a kickoff performance by the Spring Hill High School dance squad. In addition, a silent auction and teacher raffle will be open for bids in the gymnasium. Items at silent auction include: tickets to Disney World, team signed KU basketball, passes to Silver Dollar City and Science City and much more! Be sure to check back on the PCES web page on April 19th for a complete silent auction list.

At 6:30 p.m., marchers will line up for the walk. Following the same route as last year, walkers will walk down 167th Street to Ridgeview and back to the school. Signs will be displayed along the route. Families are encouraged to decorate a sign for the track before the event. Signs are available for purchase from committee members for $5.

Walkers will meet back in the cafeteria for a delicious meal (available for $5/ plate, purchased in advance) as well as music and dancing. Attendees are encouraged to place final bids for silent auction and teacher raffles, which will close around 8 pm.

The Prairie Creek Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization's (PTO) total budget comes from the success of the Mustang March, and the event is the only fundraiser of the year. Last year, the March raised more than $10,000, which was used for the following: 5th grade last day celebration outing, 5th grade Exchange City field trip, 3rd Grade Coterie Theater field trip, Kindergarten Sea Life field trip, all-school assembly of Wizard of Oz play, 4th grade field trip to Royals Stadium, money was set aside for 1st and 2nd grade field trips, incubator for kindergarten chick hatching unit, art instruction program providing art classes twice a month, movie license for movie night, treats for Back-to-School Night, support of Chris Cakes at Book Fair, teacher meals on three occasions, teacher appreciation gifts, teacher grants, matching McTeacher Night funds for teachers, Box Top program incentives, field day ribbons, and Kansas Day cakes for each class!

Bring the whole family, and be sure to invite friends and grandparents! You won't want to miss "Walking the Yellow Brick Road!"

Please note: The deadlines for barbecue dinners and family pride posters have been extended. These can be ordered until Friday, April 12th.
