Benefits of maintaining a healthy diet to prevent varicose veins is important. This article will give you some insight what foods and vitamins are best for you. It is very important to eat a high fiber diet. High fiber foods including whole grains, fresh fruits, dried raisins, mangoes, apricots, carrots, potatoes, and cabbage. Don’t confuse fresh fruits that are high in sugar. It’s also good to drink pure fruit juices and plenty of water. Take vitamins daily such as Vitamins A, B Complex, C, and E. Vitamin A is helpful in healing sores caused by varicose veins. Vitamin B Complex helps strengthen blood vessels. Vitamin C aids in the strengthening of vein walls. And Vitamin E helps improve the blood circulation throughout your body. Vitamin E oil, when applied directly to sores on your legs caused by varicose veins, is known to help the healing process.

 

Following a good regimen by adding the following foods is also beneficial for varicose veins:

Watercress – You can add watercress to your salads are stir-fry dishes.

Blueberries – repairs damaged proteins in the blood vessel walls and promote the overall health of the vascular system. We mentioned high fiber foods, blueberries are a good source of both insoluble fiber and soluble fiber such as pectin. Furthermore, blueberries (especially wild blueberries) are a good source of vitamin E.

Rosemary – is beneficial in treatment of varicose veins because rosemary stimulates circulation.  You can use rosemary to flavor chicken, fish, meats and add to your favorite tomato sauces. One of our doctors here at the clinic uses oranges and rosemary on his roasted chicken. (Rub cleaned whole chicken inside and out with orange, sprinkle some  rosemary in and outside of your chicken, salt and pepper to taste. Add one large orange inside your chicken. Once seasoned to taste, sprinkle Paprika over the entire chicken and spray with olive oil. Roast in a covered roasting pan) This is a tasty and it’s healthy.

Avocado – is one of the most natural foods. This is one of the top foods recommended by doctors that protects the heart, veins and arteries. (Avocado is great paired with rice.  This is common in the Caribbean. It also helps the taste of your rice. Avocado is also great with fish, turkey and stuffed inside of your pita sandwich.

Beets – Betacyanin, which is a compound responsible for beets color.  (The green leafy top of your beets can be eaten and is quite nutritious. Beets are also great added to your morning smoothie… add some spinach, mango and apple juice).

Ginger – is great for fighting against inflammation and circulation health.  (Add a little ginger to your bath with Epsom salt and you’ll find yourself relaxed with less pain)

Asparagus – strengthens your veins and capillaries as well as prevents them from rupturing.  Sounds like a great idea to add Asparagus right? (Make sure you clean your asparagus before preparing to rid all the dirt.  Spray your Asparagus with a little olive oil spray, add salt (any other favorite seasons), wrap in foil and either grill or put inside of your oven for a few minutes). Asparagus is great with Salmon.

Buckwheat – is recommended by many doctors, nutritionists and popular in any GNC and natural stores.  This food is rich in rutin which many of us lack in our diet.  Add buckwheat to your morning porridge, pancakes and/or hot cereal.  Sprinkle a little of cinnamon to add flavor.  Cinnamon added is great for your waistline… for cinnamon decreases inches from your waist. Buckwheat also includes all eight essential amino acids needed to repair injured or damaged tissue.
