On Friday the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America announced that during the recent severe weather in Greece on September 8 the campus of the Ionian Village Camping Program in Vartholomio, Greece was destroyed by tornadoes.

The village hosts different programs, including a summer camp that had just recently concluded in August, therefore none of the staff or campers were present at the time of the storm.

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America detailed that buildings have sustained considerable damage and hundreds of trees have been up-rooted at the village campsite.

Following an outpouring of donations by people who have previously visited the Ionian Village, the Archdiocese has started a fundraising campaign to help rebuild the Ionian Village campsite.
