Great Dane litters usually contain about eight puppies but Velma stunned everyone including her owner by giving birth to 19 litter puppies. Everything started when the owners of Velma, the Great Dane, found out that their dog was pregnant. mediately they started preparing the house for the new members. They wanted Velma to feel secure and calm in the new environment they created. Her only duty was to take care of the little creatures inside her.

But when the day came, Terri and Josh, the owners, were left speechless. For 19 hours straight the Great Dane gave birth to 19 little puppies. Now Velma holds the records for being the first dog to give birth to 19 puppies all at once.

When the owners saw the little puppies, they got surprised. They would have never imagined that their girl would give birth to 19 little precious puppies. That was really something unexpected from everybody.

The couple said that they were expecting Velma to give birth to 10 puppies maybe. But they really got shocked when she just kept giving birth. Only did she stop when she had a total of 19 little puppies. That was really something special for the family, and for Velma.

Thankfully, all puppies are healthy and safe but Velma needs some serious help in raising those puppies. She can’t manage to do it all on her own. That is why the couple has needed to chip in, and help her every three hours or so in bottle feeding some of the babies.

Yes, Velma set a new record by giving birth to 19 cuddly puppies but the highest record went to another dog, the largest known litter of puppies is 24, born in 2004 to a Neapolitan mastiff in Cambridgeshire, England, according to Guinness World Records.

We hope that all these lovely puppies get forever homes eventually. SHARE the marvelous records with your fellow dog lovers.
