Those of you who have been following me are well aware of my love for coffee. Part of my job requires me to travel around the world or even to meet lots of people in my city, and coffee is an integral part of my professional and social life. So much so that in my home, my daily coffee drinking experience is a ritual that I cherish. I have different kinds of coffee in my house, which I source from around the world, and I have different ways of brewing my coffee — French press, instant coffee, south Indian filter coffee and even a Nespresso machine. In fact, I really do love preparing a good cup of coffee for my friends and family, so much so that I have made it a ritual, where, on weekends, we all sit around and I make coffee for everyone.
I recently got hold of my latest coffee obsession, The Caffeinator, a gorgeous new contraption from the guys at Shazé.
Let me give you a brief introduction of The Caffeinator and how I have been using it.
First of all, can I just say how beautiful the design is. The frame is in a matte gold metal, with slick refined lines and complemented by the glass container, which truly gives it a luxurious feel. It could make quite a statement on a table or on your bar, when making coffee for friends.
The Caffeinator basically comprises a large outer frame, which has a metallic mesh at the top, where you put in your coffee grind. At the bottom, there is an elegant receptor glass container, into which the coffee drips.
The procedure is quite simple, actually. Start by putting some good quality coffee into the metallic mesh at the top. It is designed in such a way that the coffee granules do not come into the final brew. After that, you pour boiling water, in concentric circles, into this metallic mesh, which then brews the coffee and it drips into the glass container at the bottom.
Thus, your freshly brewed black coffee is ready to consume in whatever way you like.
This is, basically, how I have been drinking my coffee these days.
On a separate note, I also got myself The Steamcatcher, which, if you are a coffee snob, might be interesting to you. It is a sharply designed hot water pot, with a temperature indicator at the top so you get the perfect temperature during your brewing process. Also, I absolutely love the swan neck spout, which ensures the perfect pour, especially when I need to do the whole concentric circle pour, for The Caffeinator.
If you’re a coffee-lover, and want to enjoy a new, luxurious way of enjoying a good cuppa, The Caffeinator definitely gets my vote. It also makes for a great Diwali gifting idea.
Most importantly, with The Caffeinator, I am happy to throw more coffee parties for my friends and family, where we can sit around and chat, over a good cuppa joe. A device like this also ends up being quite a conversation starter as well, you will all agree.
If you’ve tried it out, do leave me a comment I’d love to hear from you. Or if you have any other innovative ways of drinking your coffee, I’m waiting for your recommendations.
