Students across Kirklees are celebrating good news in their A-Levels and equivalent vocational education results.
It has been another highly successful year for young people in the district, with all Kirklees schools and colleges beating the national average for A-Levels.
Cllr Shabir Pandor, Cabinet member for Schools and Learning, said: “As always, young people across Kirklees have shown tremendous commitment and dedication in order to achieve their results.
“There are excellent standards in our schools and colleges and we are proud of the work that takes place – young people are helped to achieve and progress in ways that suit each individual.
“The routes people take at post-16 are vital in opening up new opportunities and preparing them for the next stage in their lives.
“These young people will have a central role in supporting the economic resilience of our communities, ensuring Kirklees remains a wonderful place to live and work.”
Nationally, the overall pass rate for A-Levels (A* to E grade) is 98.1%. Locally, results include: Batley Girls High School and Batley Grammar School reporting 100%; Mirfield Free Grammar 99.5%; Greenhead College and Huddersfield New College 98.9%; Heckmondwike Grammar 98.6%; Shelley College 98.5% and St John Fisher 98.2%.
Both Greenhead College and Heckmondwike Grammar are reporting results above the national average for A* to B grades.
Providers in Kirklees have also reported results for AS levels which exceed the national pass rate.
Performance in vocational qualifications is also high. Early figures suggest close to a 99% pass rate, with a number of providers, including Kirklees College, Netherhall Learning Campus Creative and Media Studio School, Mirfield Free Grammar, Shelley College and St John Fisher, reporting 100% pass rates.
The number of young people entering higher education is expected to increase as a result of the cap on student numbers being removed.
