This post may be a little different to the topics I usually post on,but it is something that I started with 3 months ago and I wanted to make a progress report.
The internet has been around for years, but recently it has been exploding with the amount of new sites and blogs going up every day.
It think there are around 1.5 billion people with internet access, close to a quater of the worlds population.
Each day millions of dollars are being spent online, and all I want is a small percentage of that. That of course, is easier said than done.
One day being bored and surfing the net I started reading about affiliate marketing and making money online, it was all new to me.
I came across a site called Profit Lance, which is a complete resource center for learning about making money online.
It contains information about affiliate marketing, google adsense and adwords, e-commerce,site building, keyword research and pretty much every other way to make money on the internet.I signed up to become a member which cost me 80$, and I must say it was well worth it for what I learnt. They offer a refund if you are unsatisfied and havent made money after 8 weeks!
Anyways, after having some knoweledge, and not knowing where to start, I began to look for free website hosting. After some searching I came across Squidoo,a concept started by marketing guru Seth Godin. Squidoo is a site where you can become a member for free and build webpages (called lenses) on subject you want. It is totally free, and you don’t need to know anything about webdesign to start buillding lenses, so where that is concerned it is nice.
Slowly but surely I have been building lenses, first with the aim of just making a nice page, and now that I have learnt a bit more, I am making them to rank high in google search results and choosing popular products which I promote and get a comission for. This is called affiliate marketing.
Yesterday I made my very first online sale off my lens on Unique permanent tattoo designs, which i managed to get in the no.1 result in google out of
322 000 results when you type in the words ‘unique permanent tattoo design, and it ranks no 18 (the 2nd page) out of 1 950 000 results for the words ‘unique tattoo designs’.
Now this may not be great, but for me I am pretty happy to achieve this result and that first sale brought me 23.18$. I have also made about 1$ from google adsense, which are the ads displayed on my blog in the sidebar.Besides squidoo, I felt I wanted to have my own space where I could start working in my own way, and the decision came along to buy my own domain. It took me a while to figure out what domain name I wanted to use, and came up with Upgrade Reality, mainly because I truly believe that how you perceive your life to be is how your life becomes.
The main goal of my blog is to write about personal experiences, teach people what I have learnt so that they have it easier and don’t have to go through all the hard work and searching to achieve the same result. The main issues I see in people and would like to help them with is to help them believe in themselves, give them the confidence they need to achieve their dreams.
I have a friend who is very good at internet marketing and SEO (search engine optimization) and he helped me to set up wordpress on my domain so that it looks professional the way it does now.
He has his own blog on personal development and its pretty impressive, have a look at PluginID.
I am enjoying posting about the things I like, but I still have a lot to learn about marketing and getting traffic and building a reader fan base.
My goal is to get a monthly income of 5000$ a month from online, and Im going to work hard towards that! The time frame I have set myself for that is 2 years. To some people that may seem like a very long time to work at something, to others it may be too short to achieve that, for me its my goal.
I have read many biographies and watched biographies of internet marketers who started out just like I did, knowing absolutely nothing about it, and they carried on learning and working at it, and after 2 years some of them were making over 30 000$ a month!
