Sony is the first company to independently confirm future Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates for non-Nexus devices.

In a blog post written today, Sony has revealed that six of its most recent products would get Android 4.3 at some point. These are: Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia SP, and Xperia Tablet Z. Of course, the 6.4 inch Xperia Z Ultra isn’t even launched, so maybe it’ll run 4.3 out of the box – at least in the markets where it’s going to be released starting September (like the UK).

Meanwhile, the Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z will get Android 4.2 first – starting early August. As you may know, Android 4.2 updates for the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL are already being rolled-out.

Sony also says it’s considering updating some of its older Android 4.1 devices directly to 4.3. More on this will be shared at a later date.

It’s not clear if smartphones like the Xperia S, Xperia SL, Xperia Ion or Xperia P (all introduced by Sony in 2012) will get Android 4.3. But they really should. In any case, we’ll let you know as soon as we find out.
