Tira Feierstein is a life and style blogger who recently moved back to Denver with her husband after a decade in Manhattan. Hilarious, hip, and always in the know; Tira’s a great person to turn to for fashion advice (even for the fashion timid). You can find her on her blog, StyleEye, catch her tweets, follow her on Pinterest, or even watch her on StyleEye’s YouTube channel where you can find come of the segments she’s produced for Live Worldly.
So, what do the chic and fabulous have on their nightstand? Read on to find out…
The last thing you read was:
I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella. After a long journey with the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy, I needed a lighthearted romantic novel that didn’t take a lot of emotion to get through. Yes, I cried and had a visceral reaction to that Christian Grey character!
You are currently reading:
Mennonite in a Little Black Dress by Rhoda Janzen. My close friend/teacher is a veracious reader and she knew I was looking for a great memoir to read. I am most captivated when engrossed in the story of someone’s real life experiences. I’m always learning and growing from personal stories and encounters.
You’re most looking forward to reading:
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. All of the women in my book club have read it and swear it’s one of the best memoirs they’ve ever read. I don’t know why (actually, I probably do), but I hate it when everyone has read something and I haven’t. I need to be in the know; somehow I can be a better person, friend and conversationalist if I’ve read what my peers have read☺
What is your favorite city in the world?
New York City.
I lived in Manhattan for 10 years and it was the most trying, rewarding, difficult, enlightening, exciting place I’ve ever known. While it may seem that New Yorkers are constantly congratulating themselves for…I don’t know, just living there…they have to!
New York is the most honest place I’ve ever been to, its grit is what defines its beauty.
If you could travel anywhere (damn the costs) where would it be and what would you most look forward to doing?
Paris. To me, Paris is where love, art, fashion and food were born. As far as I’m concerned evolution began in the form of a Chanel suite and a baguette with cheese on it.
I’d first go to the Eiffel Tower at night then walk along the Champs-Élysées. I’d drink wine, smoke cigarettes and eat cheese until my lactose intolerance kicked in. When I wake up the following morning I want to go to Chanel and imagine myself in draped in expensive tweed and pearls.
You’re a fashion blogger, who is your favorite designer?
My favorite designer right now would be Karl Lagerfeld. He became a designer in a time where studying drawing and history meant something. He’s an artist and a dynamic personality, which I think, contribute to his revolutionary design.
What advice would you give him/her for this upcoming year if they asked for it?
I don’t know if would be advice or more of a request. And my sincere request would be, that he create a handbag, suit or cashmere cardigan that a girl on a blogger’s budget could afford! We could call it “Chanel Within Reach” CWR
What is you favorite movie?
Breakfast at Tiffany’s. What could be better than Audrey + NYC + Love?
Television show?
Right now it’s The Newsroom on HBO, I love Aaron Sorkin’s monologues and I love watching a show that enlightens and entertains me all at the same time. I also have always kind of fancied myself a “journalist.”
Overall channel?
Bravo! That Andy Cohen and his reality TV Empire have me hooked! Give me a housewife tossing a table and drinking pinot grigio and I’m all set!
In your opinion, what are your top three do-not-miss places in the city in which you currently live?
1. I live in Denver and I’d say if you’re in Colorado you must visit our beautiful Rocky Mountains, they are the anchors to our state’s beauty.
2. In the summer the Denver Botanical Gardens is a magical place. When you are in the garden you are literally in the center of the city, but you can feel as though you are walking through the French countryside or a Chinese Garden.
3. Pearl Street. It’s this little street with café’s shops and lots of trees. I love a good tree-lined block!
Last great meal that you had was where and with whom?
My last really superb meal was with my husband, Matt, at a chain-dining establishment called Hillstone, formally known as Houston’s. Now, I’m always the one saying that I miss NYC because of the food scene! I adore the small café’s and the independently run bakeries, but I must say, Hillstone never disappoints!
We had their famous rotisserie chicken and a divine piece of key-lime pie, and I had my favorite cocktail, a filthy Kettle One martini. We waxed philosophic about how my friends find me competitive but in a good way and then I had an espresso for good measure…
What books are sitting on your desk/coffee table/nightstand right this minute?
