MESSAGE
This week are finishing our four-week series based on the Gary Zukav book, Seat of the Soul, which describes the remarkable journey to the soul that each of us takes. Zukav says that everything we experience in our lives is meant to help bring about our wholeness by unifying our personality (human self) with our soul (spiritual self). This journey that moves us from external power to authentic power is what infuses our lives with meaning, purpose, joy and fulfillment.
This week we are talking about power
Some people believe that power is the ability to influence or control the behavior of others. But that violates the first spiritual law of the universe, which is that everyone has free will. Even people whodon’t want to have free will have it!!! Power is not about being able to control or influence someone else. Rather, power is about being the best version of ourselves. That is what spiritual life is all about! We’re here to learn how to act in the highest and best that is within us, and to be able to do that which God has for us.
Power has nothing to do with anyone but yourself. In fact, if you’re worrying about anyone else, you’re most likely not living your greatest life. If you spend your time and energy worrying about what others are thinking or doing, you aren’t focused on what youare all about. You aren’t focused on the work that God has givenyou to do, and the gifts that God wants you to share.
As spiritual beings, we have to understand and embrace our power. In order to live our best and most fulfilling lives, we must be aware, empowered and transformed by the power of God within us.
This week, claim your power and feel the power of God in you to do great things! Affirm to yourself, “I am powerful beyond measure!”
When you said that phrase, could you feel your own reluctance to being powerful? Many of us are afraid that, if we claim our power, we might actually be expected to achieve something. We’re scared of what might happen. Yet, in actuality, our lives can only get better when we turn on our power.
Look at those places in your life where you are fearful. In those areas, at what level are you really living your power? Fear shows us those areas where we are feeling the most disconnected from the power of God in us.
In Exodus 3:14 God said, “I AM WHO I AM.” So when you say, “I AM,” you are actually claiming the name of God in you. God in you is all-powerful. God in you has no limitations. But think about how many times you stand in front of a situation and actually condense because of your fears, instead of calling forth the power of God that is behind you and within you in every situation, just waiting for you to call it forth.
God in you is amazing! God in you is all-powerful! Open yourself up today and feel the possibilities of how much power God has for you!!!
A story that demonstrates the breadth of that power is when the soldiers came to arrest Jesus and take him to be crucified. In an attempt to defend his beloved Master Teacher, disciple Peter pulled out his sword and lopped off the ear of one of the soldiers. But Jesus told Peter to put away his sword, saying simply, “Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than 12 legions of angels?” Jesus knew his power! He knew that in any situation he could call forth the power of God, and that the infinite power of God would come to his aid.
We have to claim our power to experience the miracles of God. We have to stand in our power to choose new paths that will transform our life. We can’t face life’s challenges with fear, shrinking and condensing with worry, because that doesn’t enable us to see the miracles that are right in front of us. When we experience conflicts and challenges in our lives, we must respond with love, not fear. We must stop, open our hearts fully and allow God’s infinite love and good to flow out of us to everyone and everything. That is how we demonstrate the highest level of power possible … the power of allowing the infinite power of God to roll through us and create the highest and best for our lives.
Where in your life right now are you not calling forth the power of God when you need it most? In what situations are you not realizing that the infinite power of God is behind and available to you? Are you willing in those situations to open your heart, take a deep breath, and call forth the power of God in you? Are you willing to see what God can do in your life when you are powerful enough to be an instrument of miracles?
Affirm, “God in me is all-powerful. I am powerful beyond measure.”
The Power of Love.
No one can tell you to close your heart; you have to decide to do that. In the same manner, no one can tell you to open your heart. Only you can make that decision. As you move through life, you have to decide over and over again if you choose to be strong enough to be an instrument of God’s love. When you decide that you are powerful enough to open your heart in any situation and allow yourself to be an instrument of God’s love, that’s when miracles happen. It takes strength to make that decision. The weak will never do that; the weak close their hearts and go “unconscious.” The weak run away and hide … but when they do, they miss the opportunity to be an instrument for miracles.
Affirm to yourself, “I am strong enough to love.”
The Power of Wisdom.
Wisdom also requires strength. You must be empowered to choose the wisdom of God, because it requires that you turn within to access a higher level of consciousness. It requires that you go deep within yourself to access a higher level of Truth. When you begin to access that level of wisdom over and over again, everything in your life moves to a higher level and greater possibilities.
You access wisdom just like you do love. You have to be strong enough to stop whatever is going on in your life, take the time to go deep within, and seek the still, small voice of God. What does your inner voice say? What is God’s wisdom guiding you to do? What is the highest level of good that God desires for you in that situation?
Affirm to yourself, “I am strong enough to seek and access God’s wisdom.”
The Power of Creation
God has given us the power to create over and over again. We are creators! And when we center ourselves in love, and open ourselves to God’s wisdom, we create a world that is better than the one currently being presented to us. Can you think of a situation in your life where someone told you that you were out of options? When we come from a place of fear, we tend to believe that. We don’t open our hearts to see if there’s really a higher possibility that God has for us. So we go joylessly down the path presented to us, never knowing or understanding that there was a greater and higher way we could have walked that path.
Affirm to yourself, “God in me is all-powerful. God in me is powerful enough to create a better situation and world. God in me creates infinite possibilities for my life. I call forth the power of God to achieve what is highest and best for me.”
Use these powers to deal with any challenges you encounter in your life! Think of a situation you are facing right now. See it right out in front of you. Begin by opening your heart and sending love to that situation. Allow God’s infinite love to flow through you and to that situation. Then open yourself to your wisdom. Go within yourself and ask God, “What do I need to know about this situation? What do you want to reveal to me about this situation?” And then call forth the infinite power of God. Imagine the infinite power of God standing behind you, and moving through your heart and soul to absolutely transform that situation into the highest and best for everyone involved. Feel the power of God moving through you to make miracles happen in ways that you could never have imagined.
Your homework this week – and always – is to use this process to call forth the power of God, like legions of angels coming to your assistance! You don’t have to force it. You don’t have to bully it. You don’t have to be aggressive, angry or scared. You just have to call forth the power of God and watch miracles happen because you are willing to be an instrument for the Infinite. Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is at hand.” Each one of us has the power to facilitate that in our own lives. It’s not given to us; we have to co-create it with the power of God. Affirm once again, “God in me is all-powerful!”
A final note: in his wonderful book, Seat of the Soul, Zukav says that the only real power is authentic power. He says that we don’t become truly powerful until we become our authentic self, the real person that God created us to be. That’s a life lesson and process for many of us, because we were raised to be many things other than who we truly are. But as we embrace and become our authentic self, the power we are able to live and express exponentially increases.
Shakespeare said, “To thine own self be true.” Are you being true to yourself? Ask yourself, “Am I authentically living my life? Am I honestly being what I came here to be? Am I doing the work here on earth that God has given me to do? And am I doing it in the most powerful way that God can use me?” The more willing we are to claim this infinite power, the more good we can do on this planet, and the more we can transform this planet into the Kingdom of Heaven, right here, right now. From our most authentic place, we have the power to call forth God and watch miracles happen.
God bless you!
MEDITATION
Living, loving Spirit, I open my heart and mind and soul to to be a channel of God’s infinite love, light and power. I open myself to the power of who I have come to be in the world. I open myself to the power of my love, the power of my wisdom, and the power of my creative energy. I affirm that we are all here to transform the world into the Kingdom if Heaven, here and now. I know that, as I am willing to trust my power, I will see miracle after miracle made manifest in my life. Thank you, God, for this power that is beyond measure. Thank you! And so it is. Amen.
