A brilliant opportunity for a Welfare Benefits Advisor has now arisen within the Adult Services Division.

Our client, a London based council, are now looking to recruit a temporary Welfare Benefits Advisor to join their Community Care Service department.

As a Welfare Benefits Advisor, you will be responsible for working within the PS/Welfare benefits joint team to provide a service of welfare benefits advice to Community Care Staff and the users of Community Services.

Job Purpose:

- To work within the PS/Welfare benefits joint team to provide advice and assistance to the users of the Community Services Directorate so that their income from Social Security benefits can be maximised

- Work with joint team to provide information, training and advice to Community Service staff

- Maintain and update all manual and computer systems relating to welfare Benefits

- Visit individual in their own homes to provide accurate and timely information on the benefits to which they, their carers and their families, may be entitled.

- Assist with the completion of all relevant claim forms and ensue that the financial information provided is accurate and verified, subject to the agreement of the client.

- Attend outreach surgeries based in partner agency offices

- To undertake any work required to facilitate direct payment of benefit by Automated Credit Transfer, Direct Payments for Social Care Services and Deferred Charges.

- To provide a wide range of information on services available to customers in the area

The role also includes elements of Administration and training of department staff, as well as keeping up to date with changes occurring to Welfare Benefits.
