It's a distant suburb of Charleston - in northeastern Charleston County, basically north of Mount Pleasant on US 17, like you are going towards Myrtle Beach of Georgetown. It's a formerly unincoporated area of the Francis Marion National Forest about 8 miles south of McClellanville, the sleepy old fishing / shrimping village on the coastal side of 17.
You know it's a big town when you don't even have a blinking light or any speed limits below 60mph on the road.
