PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi has flown away from his country’s Euro 2016 semi final preparations to meet up with Manchester United officials to discuss a summer transfer.

Jose Mourinho is keen to improve his midfield at Old Trafford, and despite chasing Paul Pogba for the majority of the summer, the Special One is keen on adding Matuidi to his squad.

After PSG signed Grzegorz Krychowiak from Sevilla, Matuidi’s place in the Parisians’ team is under threat, especially when you factor in that the Polish midfielder played under new PSG boss Unai Emery in Spain.

With that in mind, the former St. Etienne man has left his international base to discuss personal terms at Old Trafford, ahead of a big money move.

Speaking about a potential transfer earlier this summer, Matuidi said:

I am under contract with PSG, I am in Paris but we do not know what tomorrow will bring

From that quote, it seems like he’s open to a move across the channel, with United the destination.

Mourinho is keen on another signing, after revealing in his press conference today that he wants to sign four players, and has only signed three so far (Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who is yet to be formally unveiled, but given BVB confirmed the move, it’s safe to say the deal is done).

Matuidi has long been one of the best midfielders in France, with an excellent engine and range of passing similar to that of Patrick Vieira back in the day.

United’s squad is starting to look impressive, with the new signings certain to help them on their Europa League quest and pursuit of the Premier League title under their new boss.
