Uh Oh! It’s been leaked. The top secret pizza hut pan pizza recipe is out! Thank’s to Cd Kitchen, we no longer have to buy overpriced pizza. Have you seen the recipe floating around Pinterest claiming to taste just like Pizza Hut? I thought “ya right", but was curious, so I gave it a try! Well, the claims were accurate! This recipe is the exact replica of Pizza Hut’s pan pizza!

The best part of eating clean and working out everyday is treating yourself every now and then. It’s amazing how unhealthy food can taste so much better when you don’t have it every day. If we woke up to Christmas every morning, we would eventually get used to it and it wouldn’t be special. Bad analogy, but you get it! That is why it’s called a treat. And treating yourself is important when maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It sounds silly, but it’s true. You should never deprive yourself from your favorite foods. Moderation is KEY when treating yourself. Don’t eat the entire pizza. Have a couple slices and a vegetable side. Don’t eat a tub of ice cream, have a big scoop on top of a cone. Make smart choices.

Ingredients
Dough: *1 1/3 cup of warm water (105 degrees F), *1/4 cup non-fat dry milk, *1/2 teaspoon salt, *4 cups flour, *1 tablespoon sugar, *1 package dry yeast, 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for dough), 6 tablespoons vegetable oil (for pan), and *butter flavored cooking spray.

Sauce: *1 can (8 ounce size) tomato sauce (low sodium or it’ll taste way too salty), *1 teaspoon dry oregano, *1/2 teaspoon marjoram, *1/2 teaspoon dry basil, *1/2 teaspoon garlic salt. (I also added 1/4 cup of *Parmesan cheese)

-In a large mixing bowl add: yeast, sugar, salt, and dry milk.

-Add water and stir to combine well.

-Let the mixture sit for a couple minutes.

-Add vegetable oil and combine.

-After combining the mixture will look foamy/soapy like.

-Stir in the four cups of flour until a dough forms.

-Don’t be afraid to ditch the spoon and use your hands.

Don’t forget to take your rings off. One time I was making a cheese ball for my family’s football party and my mom found a diamond ring in her scoop. It was like a cheesy proposal!

-Now that the dough has been formed, get ready to knead!

-Spread a little flour across your counter top. Place the dough on top and knead for about ten minutes. Kneading adds strength to the dough and makes it easier to roll out by stretching the gluten strands making it elastic-y. Kneading also gives the dough it’s texture and can collapse if left out. Maybe that’s how they invented the pita?

My co-cook wanted to say hi!

-Kneading the dough basically involves pressing down, folding over, and stretching the dough with the heel of your hand over and over again. After the dough is kneaded, it should be nice and smooth.

-Divide the dough into three even balls. I saved one for later to see if it would last well in the freezer and defrost nicely. So I am only working with two balls. Two balls of dough! Get your minds out of the gutter!

-Add three tablespoons of vegetable oil into each of the 9” cake pans.

-Spread evenly.

-Roll out the balls of dough. I left my roller in Chicago, so I used Jeremy’s bottle of vodka…shhhh. Sometimes you just have to make do with what you have.

-Place the rolled out dough into the pans.

-Let the dough rise in warm are. Our air conditioner was on 60 degrees and I couldn’t find a warm area. It was raining outside too, so that was scratched off the possibilities.  I heated the oven to 120 degrees.

-Cover the pans with a plate and place them in a warm area for one hour and thirty minutes to rise.

-I kept my oven open and placed them on the door. That way they would stay warm without cooking.

While the dough is rising, prepare the sauce!

-Add all ingredients into a mixing bowl and allow to sit for one hour in the refrigerator. I added 1/4 of Parmesan cheese to mine.

-Prepare any additional toppings you’d like to add to the pizza. I chose jalapenos, onion, zucchini, mushroom (Jeremy’s side), and bell pepper.

-Instead of buying bags of pre shredded mozzarella cheese, I wanted to use up the fresh mozzarella in my refrigerator.

-I sliced up the cheese and sliced up the pepperonis for Jeremy.

Yes, they are hearts because I love him :)

-After the dough rises, preheat the oven to 475 degrees F and add the toppings!

-Add the sauce first. If you are a sauce lover (like me) add extra! It’s all about your personal preference.

-Top the pizza with it’s vegetables!

-On this pizza, we did a half and half. The beauty in making your own pizza is you can add whatever you like without paying extra for a couple tablespoons of toppings.

-After the vegetables top with cheese and protein!

Cook the pizza until the outer crust is brown and the cheese is bubbling!

-Make sure not to cook anything underneath the pizza. The dough will not cook evenly. So if you are cooking bread sticks, try to cook them next to the pans and not under.

Let the pizza cool before slicing! And don’t take a bite of the 475 degree pizza until cooled! OUCH!

I am still mind blown that this recipe taste so much like the real deal. I plan on making this for football parties with all kinds of flavors with the boys come over for the games!

It’s also a huge money saver. Ordering pizza for parties can cost over a hundred dollars. I don’t think I spent more than $10 on these pizzas. Most of the ingredients you already keep in your pantry.

This is a great recipe to make with kids too! Making pizza was one of my favorite foods to make with my mom.

Each pizza makes four large slices of pizza. I paired my slice with a light salad and a tall glass of water!
