Ultra and eBECS, a leading Microsoft Dynamics partner, met a few weeks ago to learn about all that is eBECS. Representatives included Charlotte McCormick, USA General Manager, Jeremy Kingry, Business Management, and Kevin Hall, Global Managing Director.
Basic eBECS Information
Founded in 1999, eBECS is headquartered in the UK, but has locations in Chesterfield, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, London, Swindon, and a US outpost in Atlanta, Georgia. eBECS is a member of the Microsoft Inner Circle, and is represented in the top 1% in the partner network. They are recognized for their deep manufacturing knowledge, especially lean manufacturing as it relates to Microsoft Dynamics AX.
eBECS has an offshore development center in Jordan, which has given way to over 300 installations over the world. The company has been met with great success partly due to their realization of the problems typically associated with ERP – eBECS states there is more often than not way too much focus on the technology and not enough focus on the business processes the system is supposed to be supporting.
In 2003, after coming to these realizations, eBECS developed a new ERP system around Lean that redesigned how ERP supported manufacturing. This new offering was especially popular among multinational companies, which made up majority of the company’s clients. After continued growth, eBECS established US operations in Atlanta in 2005.
eBECS is privately owned and managed, and focused 100% on Microsoft solutions. After experiencing growth of nearly 40% a year, the company yielded about $44 million in annual revenues in 2014, and can boast that their original owners are still involved with the company.
Currently there are over 280 eBECS staff, including 35 consultants in the US. In the UK, the company has a more diverse operation, with 200 consultants in the marketplace. The US is their next big growth market, in which they are employing 20 to 50 new consultants per month.
Target Market
eBECS target market includes manufacturing companies who typically have revenues of over $50 million. Their sweet spot is lean manufacturing, but they have the ability to work with any type of manufacturing. eBECS also started a business intelligence and data analytics program about 18 months ago, which has grown over 100% since its initiation. A few notable customers of eBECS include Wikai, Leaf Guard, Williams Martini Racing, the Royal Canadian Mint, Aston Martin, Marc Jacobs, and Amec Foster Wheeler.
eBECS typically focuses on the following industries:
General discrete manufacturing
Motors control, instrumentation
Medical device
Automotive
Metals/refining
In addition, their business intelligence offerings cater to these industries:
Manufacturing
Services
Distribution
Oil and Gas
Mining and Materials
Ultra’s Take on eBECS
eBECS offers a true mid-market partner in complex manufacturing. Many of the other players in this market only work with very large organizations. eBECS is the leader in the UK, but they also have a foothold in the USA. eBECS will win new customers because of their common-sense approach to implementation. The company will be invited into the decision process because of two very important sets of IP. They have created IP specific to Lean manufacturing, and they are a leader in Power BI which is the standard for MS AX now and in the future. You will be seeing eBECS more and more in the selection process.
