Tamil Nadu Elections 2016 Live Polling : Legislative assembly elections will be held on 16 May 2016 for the 234 seats of the Legislative Assembly in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. The votes will be counted on 19 May. In the previous election in 2011, the AIADMK, under the leadership of Jayalalithaa, won a majority and formed the government and the DMDK chief Vijayakanth served as the Leader of Opposition till January 2016.

Update : The ECI has postponed the polls for the Aravakurichi state assembly constituency from May 16 to May 23 due to wide spread reports for distribution of huge sum of money and alcohol to voters.

10:30 am: “Wait for two more days for people’s verdict,” says Chief Minister Jayalalithaa after casting her vote.10:10 am: Rain and EC fiat dampen the spirits of Thanjavur constituency voters. In some polling stations no proper notice on postponement.

9:50 am: Our Correspondent B. Kolappan reports: DMK leader Stalin demands CBI inquiry into alleged money transfer. He says DMK combine is poised for a big victory.

9:42 am: 14.4 per cent polling till 9 a.m. in Tiruchi district.

9:40 am: After two hours, polling percentage is in single digit in Ramnad and Sivaganga districts.
