Hi,

You don't need to hunt through the gallery main page itself, unless you want a severe session of hardened browsing through it.

It will take a bit of getting used to as it is slightly different from the main boards, but gallery entries show up as either a photo or a comment, like this:

Viewing brand new "threads" (i.e. new photos):

- The six newest photos posted in the gallery show up automatically at the top of the front page of the forum in the "Recent images" strip, so it should be easy to see if there are new ones there.

- If you click on the text above those six ones, where it has "Recent Images (click here to view all)", you will see all of the recent photos posted in the gallery. Both these views also show if there are currently discussions going on, with the number of comments marked under each image, but see next...

Viewing new "contributions to existing threads" (i.e. comments on photos):

- All new discussion postings in the gallery show up on the "View recent gallery comments" link which is beside the "View new posts (5)" one which you use for looking at the normal boards. Towards the top of the page on the right.

- Additionally, if you post a photo or comment on a photo you get subscribed to it and future activity on it gets sent to you as a notification. (you can unsubscribe if you want, or change whether you get subscribed in your user control panel). At the moment that notification is via email, which seems an odd choice by the programmers. I'm not sure whether we need the notification at all, or whether we need to see if we can make it a pm instead. We don't currently get auto-subscribed to normal posts, so maybe we don't need to for gallery ones either.

Hope that's all useful. I've explored whether we can get a "View comments since last visit" but that isn't possible with what it does. And I would like to see if I can bring in the date/time of the most recent comment beside the number of comments under each photo thumbnail and also in that "View recent comments" link at the top-right of the board. Seeing it there might mean one less click. Other than that, let me know suggestions about it.

Thanks.
