Ubuntu and HP's Moonshot extend the benefit of the ARM architecture to the data centre

John Zannos writes about the release of HP's new ARM-based server cartridges for the Moonshot line of enterprise servers. On the partnership with Canonical with Ubuntu, he writes "With Ubuntu on the Moonshot program, HP has made a huge commitment to Canonical, and Ubuntu Server (including the powerful management tools Canonical delivers) will enable our joint customers to confidently deploy massively scaled-out workloads."

The Ubuntu OpenStack Training Programme

Canonical announces the availability of a third training program in their OpenStack and Ubuntu portfolio: "The Ubuntu OpenStack Training course is a one-week, classroom-based combination of lectures and lab work, and gives a comprehensive introduction to Ubuntu OpenStack and our leading cloud toolset including Juju for service orchestration, MAAS for hardware provisioning and Landscape for systems management and monitoring."

Borderlands: The Pre-sequel to launch on SteamOS alongside Windows

Kyle Orland of Ars Technica reports on 2K Games' announcement that "Borderlands: The Pre-sequel", the next installment in their Borderlands franchise, will be playable on SteamOS at launch on October 14th. This is great news for the Linux-based operating system, which is still in beta, since most developers do not prioritize their top games on Linux or SteamOS for its initial release.
