The weathermen have predicted our future and are predicting this winter is going to be the same, if not worse than last year. We can expect to be cozied up in blankets, dreaming about warm weather, and watching Netflix before we know it. In the meantime to prepare for the polar vortex’s record breaking weather we put together a list of must-have items to survive the season. Hibernation is just around the corner so we need to stock up on some goodies while we can. There is still a way to be fashionable even when you feel like you are bundled up like the kid in A Christmas Story.

1. Blanket Scarf

Blanket scarves are taking over the scarf world. The fall allowed you to wear it in place of a jacket, but our layers are increasing as the temperature outside is lowering. Whether you choose to buy one or it comes straight off of the couch, you’ll want a blanket scarf this season to keep you looking chic while simply staying warm.

We love this one from Zara, but if you’re tight on cash, this DIY is an awesome cheap alternative.

2. Heated Lavender Pillow

Let’s just say that this will change your life. It encompasses all things comfort and we are adding it to our list of essentials when staying in on a cold winter’s night accompanied with candles and a good book. It’s warm, the smell is enticing, and it is ever so calming. If you ask us, it’s better than a little relaxation time in the tub.

Get one here.

3. A Solid Pair of Snow Boots

We may have been able to sneak past winter before with sneakers and maybe a pair of furry boots, but with inches upon inches of snow we need something a little more heavy duty. Just because you need a weatherproof boot does not mean that it cannot be fashionable as well. Boot companies are stepping it up and making their boots much more fashionable than ever before.

We love the look of classic L.L. Bean Boots, and lucky for us, they’re totally in style this season.

And if you’re looking for something a little more sporty, Athleta has an awesome pair of sneaker boots by Adidas that’ll help you master that sporty-chic look.

4. Pea Coat

Wearing your long down coat to every occasion throughout winter just is not an option, especially with holiday parties coming at you like confetti. Owning a classic pea coat is essential to surviving the party going scene in upcoming arctic tundra.

You can’t go wrong with a classic pea coat from Gap. Affordable, and it will last you a few seasons.

5. Faux Fur Headband

Progressing over the years from ear muffs to hats, a new trend is entering the fashion world Faux Fur headbands are coming in with a bang. Alright, maybe the Russian’s style rubbed off on us a little bit.

This Jack Will’s faux fur headband on ASOS is what our winter accessory dreams are made of.

6. Hot Cocoa Recipe

What would the holiday season be without a little bit of hot cocoa inspiration? There’s just something about the crisp air and the white blankets of snow that make us cheat on our morning cup of coffee and switch over to hot chocolate for a little while. Regardless, we’ve got the best recipe!
