The upcoming Britpart MSA British Cross Country Championship (BCCC) 2014 will see renowned Japanese tyre maker Toyo entering the legendary motorsport. Toyo has decided to back the Isuzu UK rally team this season. The deal will see Toyo tyres supplying Isuzu rally vehicles with its tyres, as well as advising the team on set-up and usage of its products during the races.
All Terrain Tyres from Toyo
The famous UK rally will see Isuzu trucks, which have been built specially for the race, being driven on this season’s best Toyo all terrain tyres – the 245/75/16s Open Country All Terrain, meant to suit the specific speeds of these vehicles.
These tyres are not only very popular Toyo products, but are also approved by the MSA as a stable choice for the tough rally conditions that vehicles face during the BCCC. Interestingly, for this season’s race, the all-terrain Toyo tyres will have to face the challenging country side topography in Wales and Scotland.
Apart from the all-terrain tyre brand from Toyo, the Japanese manufacturer will also supply Open Country Mud Terrain rubber for Isuzu’s other rally engagements overseas in the upcoming months.
The Special Rally D Max Truck
For the forthcoming race in UK, Isuzu has developed a special Rally D Max truck that will tread the rough grounds of the legendary Britpart MSA British Cross Country Championship (BCCC) 2014.
This innovative pick-up truck has been built according to the production specifications of Isuzu’s most popular model the D-Max. However, far more superior technologies and tools have been embedded in the vehicle prepared specially for the upcoming rally. Thus, apart from the essential safety features, the Rally D Max will also sport a custom built roll cage and Cobra FIA-approved race seats and harnesses.
The design of the Rally D Max has been optimized keeping in mind the BCCC’s tradition of introducing innovative vehicles for its rallies. The truck has also been equipped with such fascinating features as an electronic fire system, Bilstein suspensions, stainless steel race exhaust from Milltek and alloy fabrication from Forge Motorsport.
Toyo Hopeful of a Super Success at BCCC
Toyo is hopeful that its performance in the upcoming race will be positive. Commenting on the sponsorship, Toyo UK’s technical and motorsport director Alan Meaker said that they were delighted with the association, especially because the Rally D Max has been developed to the highest standards by Isuzu’s technical team. Confident of a superior performance, Alan Meaker also added that they are hoping to score points with their very first outing this season.
Another advantage that Meaker sees with this season’s race is Isuzu’s deal with famous rally driver Jason Sharpe. Considered the most seasoned professional in the rally circuit, Jason Sharpe has several past honours to his credit. Meaker added that they were looking forward to this association with Jason and team, and hoped that Toyo’s technical advisors will deliver the highest level technical support to the Isuzu team during the upcoming rally.
