Flights
Santa Fe. “This is not the city you’re looking for.”
Although Santa Fe is where Type-A West is being held, that’s not the city you want to fly into. Because it’ll cost you a small fortune (unless you’re one of the lucky few) to fly into Santa Fe.
Instead your best bet for a cheap ticket is to fly into Albuquerque. Say it with me, “Santa Fe is not the city I’m looking for. I will fly into Albuquerque.”
Nonstop flights into Albuquerque
And if you’re not a fan of flying, or just don’t want to mess with a connection (or two) several airlines offer non-stop flights:

You’re probably thinking, “But Albuquerque is 1 hour from Santa Fe.” But that’s okay, because there are plenty of ways to get to Santa Fe from Albuquerque.
How to Get From Albuquerque to Santa Fe
Now that you’ve gotten an inexpensive ticket to Albuquerque, here are all the ways to get to Santa Fe, New Mexico.
1. New Mexico Rail Runner
The cheapest way to get from Albuquerque to Santa Fe is to take the New Mexico Rail Runner train.
During the week, a shuttle bus leaves from the airport to the downtown Albuquerque train station where you can take one of four trains from Albuquerque to Santa Fe, starting at 9:10 am and ending at 6:10 pm.
There are no buses on the weekend from the airport to the train station. And the train doesn’t service the airport on Sundays.
The entire journey takes two hours and costs $10 each way.
2. Sandia Shuttle Express
If you prefer door-to-door pick-up, the Sandia Shuttle Express offers shuttle service between Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
The first shuttle from Albuquerque leaves at 8:45 am with the last shuttle leaving at 11:45 pm.
You can book one-way for $30 per person or a round-trip for $55 per person. Your ticket includes two pieces of checked luggage, a carry-on bag, and one personal item.
The ride takes a minimum of 75 minutes. It can take longer depending on the number of passengers and drop-offs. So give yourself extra time.
3. Rent a Car
For the more adventurous, or want to explore the wide open road, consider renting a car.
You can rent an intermediate car from Budget $42 through Costco Travel. I used July 7, 2016 to July 10, 2016 as the travel dates. Depending on your exact dates, you might get different prices.
It’ll take a little over an hour to drive from Albuquerque to Santa Fe. But if you’re driving you could visit one of the many roadside attractions like Walter White’s house along the way.
