Just what everyone loves after a two month plus break… a bottle episode. Bottle episode is a standard term for episodes where the events, place, and characters solely exist within the episode. Odds are we’ll never see Kristen Rochester, Emily Rochester, or Dr. Eldridge on Grey’s Anatomy again. But for tonight, they surround the story.

Yes, you can draw parallels to the three doctors, Bailey, Wilson, and Robbins, that were at Kristen’s bedside. But, well, pretty loose parallels, except for maybe Jo.

We never learn exactly what Kristen did to earn her twenty years to life sentence. All we know is that she is a sixteen year old inmate, with a definite propensity towards violence. There was no magical cure or life-altering tumor that explains her behavior or her past. Kristen ends the episode where she began, in the prison hospital.

The initial reals the doctors are there is to treat Kristen’s unborn baby (no explanation on the father) for an acardiac twin that is basically sucking all of the blood from her fetus. Kristen is not only violent, but also skittish and skeptical of the doctors’ care. In fact, the only person who can seemingly calm is her lawyer, who naturally is called away to another matter.

The oddest moment though (besides the eventual ENORMOUS 31-week baby) was that Arizona said they couldn’t transfer the patient. Ummmm… anybody else remember when they treated violent inmate Rosanna Arquette (she ate razor blades) or death row inmate Eric Stoltz, a serial killer, to the hospital for treatment?

So, while former homeless street kid Jo is naturally empathetic to Kristen, more surprising is Bailey’s horrified reaction. Is it because of Gary Clark (the hospital shooter)? Or Alex’s possible fate? But the level headed Bailey, normally only freaked out by spiders coming out of a patient, is oddly and uncharacteristically freaked out by the patient. Granted, seeing Kristen snap Eldridge’s finger wasn’t a great impression. But Bailey was also surprisingly tone deaf to the prison’s medical supply situation, having to literally be shown the near empty supply closet to get why patient care isn’t at Grey Sloan.

Arizona, with her daughter off in New York, is upset to learn that Kristen’s mother, Emily, plans on adopting the baby, but never bringing her to visit Kristen. Kristen has visions of being in her daughter’s life, and eventually Jo tells her the truth, over everyone’s objections. And as Kristen is delivering, Bailey holds her hand. Arizona makes sure to ask Emily if she’ll abandon the new baby if she too makes mistakes. (Not knowing what Kristen did, are the doctors really right in judging Emily’s decisions?)

As they drive home from their long day, Bailey tells Jo that Alex went to the D.A. to accept a plea deal and is going to prison. Jo has Arizona pull over so she can vomit on the side of the road.

And that’s it for this week! Next week, we learn what’s happening with Alex! But for now, leave your TwoCents, comments, and feedback below!
