4 PHOTOGRAPHERS WITH GOOD EYE FOR EROTICS!
.
“No nude, however abstract, should fail to arouse in the spectator some vestige of erotic feeling… The desire to grasp and be united with another human is so fundamental a part of our nature that our judgment of what is known as ‘pure form’ is inevitably influenced by it, and one of the difficulties of the nude as a subject for art is that these instincts cannot be hidden.”
- Sir Kenneth Clark
I believe that the nude is one of the most difficult, and yet sophisticated subjects in the art of photography. Especially when it comes to the female body. In order to reveal all the grace of its forms, tenderness of texture, to show the delicate play of light and shadow, sex and innocence, a master has to feel the fine balance between the divine and the plastic. The artist has to understand the complexity of the female spirit. That is the only way to represent a female body in its full beauty.
Today I’d like you to meet 5 talented erotic photographers who, in my opinion, have a good eye for all of these things.
Nudescapes
by Cam Attree
From a very young age Cam developed his eye for photography under the influence of his father, an amateur photographer. After graduating from the Queensland College of Art with a degree in Photography Cam was still undecided as to what area of photography to choose. At first he dedicated himself to landscape and wildlife photography, spending weekends and holidays camping and exploring local areas and building a decent portfolio. He won the Australian Wildlife Photographer of the Year while taking photo trips to Africa and Antarctica.
But soon Attree realized that traveling to remote exotic locations was a pricey endeavor and that it would be pretty tough to make money in this area of photography. Around this time destiny sent him a young model who needed a portfolio and asked him to shoot her. That’s when his passion for photographing women was born.
Cam says his favorite style of nude art images is combining the human form with the landscape, often referred to as Nudescapes.
Cam’s had a number of exhibitions of his photo works and also has a limited edition, fine-art coffee table book of art nudes from a trip to Baja, Mexico in 2011 called Naked in Baja (also available as an interactive eBook.) He runs a number of photographic workshops every year, including one focusing purely on artistic nude photography, hoping to soon expand those workshops to include multi day, live-in workshops in amazing destinations with equally amazing models.

The perceptible beauty
by Gary Breckheimer
Gary Breckheimer is a New York City-based photographer, and has been pursuing his craft for over two decades. After attaining a BFA from Brooks Institute, he moved to New York City and eventually to Europe, where he was published in publications like MAX Mag, Playboy, Vogue to name a few. Fashion and portraiture were his specialty.
Breckheimer then made the transition from Fashion to Fine Art, and developed a propensity for Black & White imagery. He predominantly focuses on juxtaposing the perceptible beauty of the female form against our manufactured environment. His intent, he explains, “is to allow viewers to contemplate the relationship of man and his urban environment. Observing my choice of location, placement and positioning of the model, use of props, along with my use of light and lines, each viewer is able to surmise his or her own conclusion about the relationship of man and his environment. This is why there is an element of the unexpected, mixed with an overtone of solitude yet erotica in his work. As an artist, his goal is to create photographs where the story, the meaning is not immediately obvious, but to take photos that lure viewers back for deeper consideration so that his vision of man’s relationship and sexuality can spawn infinite conclusions.
Breckheimer has been recognized for his vision by numerous awards, the prestigious, International Photography Award for Fine Art Nude, The Spider Awards, B&W Magazine, Erotic Signature and others, and featured in many books & publications including Nude Magazine, B&W, Fine Art Nudes, Erotic Signature, Mammoth Erotic Photography, Art Collector Magazine and others.
