The 6th AACTA Awards have been presented at the Star Event Centre in Sydney tonight.
But the event was also marred by protesters with female filmmakers from Women in Film and Television NSW dressed as “sausages” on the red carpet, angered that films by women represented just 7% of the nominated films.

“Thank you to Molly for backing me in…. I should have worked out a speech!” said Johnson.
“Hello I’m Delvene Delaney,” said former TV host Delvene Delaney in her introduction to Paul Hogan’s honour of the Longford Lyell Award. She was welcomed with an instant round of applause.
“We made a movie and it was like a sketch…. get me mates together and make a movie. Turned out I’m probably the world’s leading one-hit wonder. But it was a mighty hit,” Hogan said of Crocodile Dundee.
“I’ll quit while I’m ahead.”
Presenters Tom Gleeson and Celia Pacquola joked that ABC was a better channel than host broadcaster, Seven,
“ABC shows are better than Channel Seven shows!” declared Gleeson. “I’m hosting a show right now called Hard Quiz. You should change channels and watch that instead of this w*nk!”

Isla Fisher received the Trailblazer Award and thanked Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, Margot Robbie and Toni Colette “all of whom were no doubt offered this award first but they couldn’t be here. Yay!”
She added, “I never thought when I was speaking into the hamburger phone at the Diner in Summer Bay that I would ever end up in this illustrious room.”
