Seven’s new factual series Air Rescue premieres next Monday, narrated by Martin Sacks,

The series, produced by Fredbird Entertainment,  follows the rescue crew of the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service.

In the first episode the crew responds to a shark attack victim, while a rock fisherman risks his life for the perfect catch. An elderly man is also evacuated after his battle with chest pain rapidly deteriorates.

See the action as it happens through the eyes of a core cast of rescuers from the Newcastle Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service as they enter the lives of ordinary Australians in need: fishermen in trouble on the rocks, injured farmers, flood victims, motorbike riders and holidaymakers in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Each rescue is steeped with natural adversaries: the environment, the weather, personal jeopardy and time-critical stakes. Emergency missions take the viewer from the edge of their seat at home to bush canopies, rolling waves offshore, critical highway disasters, remote farming land and jagged cliff-tops.

It’s up to the pilots, aircrew and intensive care paramedics to save lives, help the wounded, find the lost and provide unflinching trust and support. Experience the thoughts and motivations of the men and women behind the uniforms, the time-critical decisions they need to make and how they cope with the emotion and trauma.

The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service is the longest serving civil search and rescue helicopter in Australia reaching 84% of the population during its peak time in summer.

Westpac has supported the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service since its inception in Sydney in 1973; over the past 40 years, no one has ever paid to be rescued by the Service with partner support ensuring it remains a free community service. There are now 15 helicopters and 12 bases in the national fleet.

Monday, November 4 at 8pm on Seven.
