Same Genius. New World. In Da Vinci’s Demons Series Return

This week STARZ announced that the sophomore season of Da Vinci’s Demons will premiere on Friday, March 22nd. The series produced by David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Trilogy) will air ten episodes and will also air in 125 countries on FOX International Channels in addition to STARZ. This series tells the ‘untold’ story of a young Leonardo da Vinci and stars Tom Riley as the titular character. Brilliant and passionate, da Vinci struggles with his genius and ideals and how the run contrary to his own reality. The synopsis states:

Season two finds Florence thrown into chaos in the wake of the Pazzi conspiracy.  Lorenzo is gravely ill and Leonardo da Vinci must push the limits of his mind and body to defend the city against the forces of Rome. While the Medicis go to unthinkable lengths to deal with new threats, da Vinci continues on his quest to find the fabled Book of Leaves and uncover the secret history of his mother.  He’ll come to realize that he has lethal competition in his quest — new enemies who may be even worse than the forces of Pope Sixtus.  His search will take him to faraway lands and force him to reevaluate everything he knew about the world and his own history.

Season 2 will focus on Leonardo’s journey to the New World in search of the fabled Book of Leaves, but will also show what happened to the Medicis back in Florence in the wake of the Pazzi conspiracy. Riley’s co-stars Laura Haddock (Guardians of the Galaxy), Elliot Cowan (Luther), Lara Pulver (Sherlock), and Blake Ritson (Upstairs Downstairs) also return for this second season.

Riario: Did you ever think we’d be facing the end together?

Da Vinci: I never thought I’d see the end at all.

Riario: After all we’ve seen? Perhaps you’re too naive to endure.
