Life Ok is the first channel to get variety of finite shows, before Star, Colors and Zee could plan. Life Ok aimed to bring diverse shows on numerous genres, so that viewers can switch to the channel and take a break from the long running shows. Star Plus is known to have long running shows, like Diya Aur Baati Hum, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Saath Nibhana Saathiya. The shows are great success and continuing year after year. Even Zee Tv’s Pavitra Rishta and Jodha Akbar aired for long, before giving away their slots to the new conceptual shows. Colors still have its longest running show Sasural Simar Ka, which completed five years, while the other one Balika Vadhu ended on a good note recently.
Life Ok has always maintained decent plots, with less non practical tracks. Tumhari Pakhi was one such show which presented a beautiful love story depicting virtues necessary in a successful marriage. Anshuman. Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh has a mature take on divorce, women determination, true love and dealing with relationships maturely. Piya Rangrezz, Dream Girl, Nadaan Parindey, Mahakumbh, Ek Boond Ishq and Gustakh Dil were the average runners, that gained good success and entertained the viewers well.
The success formula in all the mentioned shows was good leads and wonderful concept. Devon Ke Dev Mahadev was also much appreciated for the good detailing of Godly figures and history. The concept has been great so far in every show. The channel never repeated similar concept till now. There is no love story’s remake or a second season of any long running show. There are just the original concepts, which are given a limited time frame to entertain the viewers.
Some shows clicked well with the audience and in such case of getting high fame and TRPs, the channels took the show air time ahead by giving them extensions. Nevertheless, Life Ok succeeded to maintain the consistent change of concepts.
The shows which has shut the shops soon were Roshni, Kaisa Yeh Ishq Hai Ajab sa Risk Hai, Do Dil Ek Jaan, Laut Aao Trisha, Mere Rang Mein Rangne Waali, Jaane Kya Hoga Rama Re, Baawre, Ek Tha Chandar Ek Thi Sudha and Dafa 420. The thing gone wrong with them were the low TRPs, which did not let the show survive. Concept was unique, still it did not work in favor of the channel.
Talking about the current shows, Bahu Hamari Rajni Kant and May I Come in Madam have got comedy drama on the channel, while Nagarjun shows the mythological fiction drama. Baazigar and Kalash are the only shows right now that have full fledged fiction. Bhakti Mein Shakti is a devotional tale that brings great stories of inspiring devotion. Mazaak Mazaak Mein started recently and resembles the old standup comedy show. Savdhaan India aims to create awareness towards the crimes happening around in the country.
The frequency of putting simple and finite shows was always average on the channel. There were not too many new releases or more cut down of old shows quickly. And TV is following the formula of finite shows, and switching shows hurriedly based on the TRPs.
