Country rock superstar Brad Paisley will play the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater on June 14 in his summer tour, with opening acts Chris Young and Lee Brice. The concert will start at 7 p.m., with amphitheater doors opening at 6.
West Virginia-born Paisley, now riding a wave of indignation over the “Accidental Racist” single, also featuring LL Cool J, has scored gold or higher with all seven of his albums, landing 32 singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country charts, including 18 No. 1 hits, 10 of them in an unbroken streak from 2005-2008.
He won CMA and ACM Male Vocalist of the Year in 2008, and Entertainer of the Year at the 2010 44th Annual CMA Awards. Among Paisley’s biggest hits are “He Didn’t Have to Be,” “We Danced,” “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song),” “Mud on the Tires,” “When I Get Where I’m Going” (with Dolly Parton), “The World,” “She’s Everything,” “Ticks,” “Online,” “Letter to Me,” “I’m Still A Guy,” “Waitin’ on a Woman,” “Start a Band” (with Keith Urban), “Then,” “Water,” “Anything Like Me,” “Old Alabama” (with the band Alabama), and “Remind Me” (with Carrie Underwood).
The song “Accidental Racist” is intended as a commentary on how social and cultural mores have changed in his lifetime. Paisley is no stranger to taking on cultural issues in his writing: The song “Welcome to the Future” was driven by the inspiration he felt in President Barack Obama’s election.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. April 19 at www.ticketmaster.com, the amphitheater box office, or by phone at 800-745-3000. The seats, all reserved, will be $35 and $59.
