Daft Punk’s private opening party for their West Hollywood pop-up shop was one of the highlights of a busy Friday night (Feb. 10) kick-off to Grammy Weekend in Los Angeles.
The French robot duo — who are set to perform with The Weeknd at Sunday’s Grammy Awards — decked out Maxfield’s Melrose Avenue space for a multifaceted activation that felt equal parts boutique and museum.
Billed as “part archival retrospective and part shopping experience,” the space played host to life-size Daft Punk mannequins decked out in white robot outfits and monogrammed leather jackets, the crystalline guitar, piano, and drum set used in the “Get Lucky” and “Lose Yourself to Dance” music videos, and nostalgic exhibits of slides and Alive 2007 tour memorabilia. The shop itself boasted a series of limited-edition designer offerings from Gosha Rubchinskiy, Off-White, Enfants Riches Deprimes, Darkdron, Hervet Manufacturier, Han Cholo and more.
Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo were present throughout the event, enjoying the party sans helmets in black suit jackets. G.O.O.D. Music signee HXLT kicked off the night behind the decks, and OWSLA’s Mija continued the vibe with a throbbing, feel-good disco house set. If either felt pressured by having the robot luminaries in attendance, they didn’t show it.
Skrillex arrived shortly after 11 p.m. and quickly escalated the musical intensity by combining hip-hop favorites and funk-infused remixes of his classic catalogue (“Cinema”) throughout a typically genre-defying set.

The event carried a relaxed atmosphere and drew a diverse attendance of celebrities and industry VIPs. Ciara and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson were seen perusing the clothing hangers, while The Weeknd was spotted chatting with Bangalter and de Homem-Christo after arriving with a posse in tow. Travis Barker and Elijah Wood also made cameos during the night.
