Surely you didn’t think that Morrissey would line up behind President Donald Trump.
If you didn’t before, let his latest announcement convince you. When the notoriously cranky former Smiths singer announced his first gig of 2017 — a headlining slot at the Roxy Festival in Guadalajara, Mexico — he used a Trump-trolling meme to do so.
The image, “This is not America,” a photomontage by Sam Esty Rayner, features a grim-faced Trump holding up one of his beloved executive orders with the words “World Peace is None of Your Business” scrawled in orange.
The image was posted on Moz’s official fan site True to You, where last week another Trump-trolling pic from Rayner took center stage: “The End is Nigh,” which re-imagined the cover of the singer’s 2009 album, Years of Refusal, with a Trump-faced baby in place of the adorable tot on the original.
The April 1 Roxy festival will also feature Empire of the Sun, James, Smash Mouth, Fito Paez, Hiromi, Hercules & Love Affair, Caloncho, Siddhartha, a Hot Chip DJ set, Space Oddity, David Brighton, MAITE HONTELE and Elsa y Elmar.
