Happy Friday! Today we are featuring five amazing mid-century engagement rings. The rings below are all from about 1950 and exhibit crisp, classic designs. With World War II over, economic growth ramped up, and the middle class expanded around the globe. The end of the war also meant that platinum could be used for jewelry again, allowing for textured accents and engraved finishes on the rings. Diamonds became an extremely popular choice for engagement rings during this time, a testament to the strength of Hollywood marketing and successful De Beers ad campaigns. It is during this time that it became common for women to wear wedding bands with their engagement rings, so design tended to be more straight on the sides in order to accommodate a band.
