We are looking for an experienced Data Center Engineer to join our Tri State Data Center Practice.
The position is on the Service Delivery team responsible for implementing solutions positioned by our Solution Architects. This individual will primarily be working at our customer sites in the New York, NJ and CT.
Specific responsibilities include:
Utilizes knowledge and experience with Cisco, VCE, EMC, and VMware to architect, design, and deploy data center solutions.
Manages multiple data center related projects concurrently, providing timely completion of tasks and ensuring the data center is running efficiently and effectively.
Configures disaster recovery site using Avamar, Data Domain and Networker.
Coordinates environment usage for development and testing environments.
Schedules OS/software patches, upgrades and down times for production.
Participates in conference calls on technical issues to provide status of open opportunities and resource requirements to management.
Supports operations and maintenance tasks for customer projects.
Maintains critical technical architecture documents and verifies all information is up to date.
Required Skills
Required Experience
A minimum of 5+ years of engineering experience is required.
Must have a strong technical background in data center technologies, including servers, storage, virtualization, networking, infrastructure management, and data center facilities (power, cooling, ironwork, cabling).
A background with Cisco, VCE, EMC, and/or VMware technologies is desired.
Design experience on a virtualization platform (vSphere, Hyper-V, Xen, KVM, OVM) is desired.
Experience with backup and recovery methods (virtual environment, file shares, block migrations) is desired.
Experience with design and implementation of EMC Backup and Deduplication product portfolio that includes Avamar, Networker and Data Domain is required
Experience with implementing backup and recovery of SQL, Exchange and Oracle Databases using EMC product suite is desired.
Knowledge of system management best practices, scheduling/recovering from SAN array snapshots, complete backup and restoration experience is desired.
Must have excellent customer service and troubleshooting skills with a strong service orientation focus.
Must have strong critical thinking, complex problem solving, appropriate judgment, and decision making skills.
Must have strong time management to effectively and efficiently manage one’s own time. Desired Certifications (not required):
EMCIE – EMC Data Domain, Networker and Avamar
Preferred but not a requirement candidates should have experience or the desire to get involved with technology projects leverage the following technologies:
VCP – VMware Certified Professional
VCAP – VMware Certified Advanced Professional
CCNA – Cisco Certified Network Associate
CCNP – Cisco Certified Network Professional
DCNISS – Cisco Data Center Networking Infrastructure Support Specialist
DCUSS – Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Support Specialist
DCUCDS – Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Design Specialist
