Sunpower is looking for a talented Senior Accountant to support our residential distributed generation (DG) business, located in Austin, TX. A suitable candidate will be someone who has strong business acumen, attention to detail and is accustomed to meeting reporting deadlines. This position serves a critical accounting, financial reporting and compliance role within the fastest growing segment of the business. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager, Residential Distributed Generation, and the responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
Provide real- time accounting, reporting and analysis, including maintaining and improving accounting and reporting systems, managing relationships and overseeing bookkeeping performed by Global Business & Financial Services (“GBFS”) team in Philippines.
Assist in managing month-end close, accounting processes and procedures related to all aspects of the business and in line with corporate and external reporting guidelines.
Review journal entries and account reconciliations on a monthly basis.
Compilation and presentation of the monthly reporting package to executives.
Management of quarterly, interim and year-end audit PBCs (external/SOX/compliance).
Preparation of stand-alone financial statements for our joint venture entities
Assist with user testing of various IT projects.
The senior accountant will also have the opportunity to work on multiple other financing projects, working closely with our residential business partners.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Certified public accountant or actively working on becoming a CPA
Public accounting experience with big 4 or national accounting firm
Proficiency with Excel/Word/PPT
Willingness to travel as needed (< 10%)
Knowlege of Lease Accounting
Experience with GAAP technical accounting research and application
Experience with identifying process improvement opportunities and proposing viable solutions
Deadline oriented
Experience with SOX
Experience with Oracle or a similar ERP system (eg SAP)
Strong interpersonal skils and the ability to interact positively with other teams
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 4-6 years of related experience
OR equivalent combination of education and years of related experience
