ACA: Lack Of Affordability No.# 1 Reason For ‘Failing To Enroll’

A new survey confirms that the “Affordable Care Act” has failed to achieve one of its most important goals — making health coverage accessible to the uninsured. As the Washington Post reports, “Just one in 10 uninsured people who qualify for private health plans through the new marketplace have signed up for one.”

Why so few? According to the survey, which was released last Thursday by McKinsey & Company, the most common reason cited by uninsured respondents was lack of affordability. Out of five possible reasons for failing to enroll, most chose, “I could not afford to pay the premium.”

Affordable Care Act (ACA) ‘Unaffordable’ For 105 Million, Health Study Finds

Posted: February 11, 2015

The Affordable Care Act isn’t quite as affordable as initially reported, according to a new study from the non-partisan American Health Policy Institute (AHPI).

The organization arrived at its findings by first going to the ACA itself and examining how the law defines “affordable.” From the study.

“Coverage is deemed to be not ‘affordable’ according to the ACA if the employee’s share of the annual premium for self-only coverage is greater than 9.5 percent of their annual household income. An employer plan must cover at least 60 percent of total allowed costs to meet the ACA’s minimum value requirement, and offer ‘substantial’ coverage for in-patient hospitalization services or physician services (or both). Employer plans are also required to offer certain preventive care services on a no-cost basis to participants, and a range of additional benefits, such as the age-26 adult dependent coverage requirement and no annual or lifetime limits on essential health benefits.”

Under the Affordable Care Act’s own definition, the study notes, “over 105 million Americans will find plans in the ACA’s [Affordable Care Act’s] public exchanges to be ‘unaffordable’ when both premiums and deductibles are taken into account.”

The report also states that more than 13 million employees with employer based coverage — 3.0 million with individual coverage, and 10.4 million with family plans — “are now facing the prospect of ‘unaffordable’ health care.”

Study: ACA Premiums ‘Unaffordable’ for 115 Million

– By Sean Piccoli

Wednesday, 11 Feb 2015

Insurance premiums under the Affordable Care Act will rate as “unaffordable” for almost 115 million people, using the law’s own metric for affordability, according to a new study reported on by The Weekly Standard.

More than 105 million Americans shopping for policies on the exchanges established under the ACA, and another 13.4 million individuals and families choosing insurance through their employers, will find themselves purchasing unaffordable care, according to the study from the American Health Policy Institute.

The study reports that the law classifies large employer-based insurance as officially “unaffordable” when the premium costs a full-time employee more than 9.5 percent of his or her annual income.

But the minimum coverage requirements of the law have also prompted insurers to raise prices on the workplace plans they negotiate with large companies, and some of that additional cost is passed on to employees in the form of higher premiums, deductibles and out-of-pocket costs.

As a result, “Over 13 million employees with employer based coverage — 3.0 million with individual coverage, and 10.4 million with family plans — are now facing the prospect of ‘unaffordable’ health care,” study authors Tevi D. Troy and D. Mark Wilson write.

Everything you hear about the ACA, good or bad, is a diversion from the truth.

It’s easy for the Rich to pay for and the poor get it free, while the rest of us are stuck in the middle. Some have it supplied by their employer, others don’t. Now let’s throw a little racism into the mix and stir…

It’s all a distraction to cover-up the “real” issue.

Is U.S. Healthcare even “Safe”? Is it, at it’s core, really Deathcare disguised as Healthcare?

In the eyes of Natural Health Practitioners, whether you pay for your traditional medical healthcare or get it free, it all leads to the same place…an early grave!

Of course it’s worse when you have to pay for your own demise, and worse still, when you refuse to participate, and they just go and steal/take the money from you anyway.

“Shared Responsibility”, they call it.

I’m sorry, but I’m not “Sharing” in the “Responsibility”, of putting American’s into Medical Debt and sending my fellow Americans to an early grave! Period!

I’m doing something about it!

How Many Die From Medical Mistakes In U.S. Hospitals?

SEPTEMBER 20, 2013

It seems that every time researchers estimate how often a medical mistake contributes to a hospital patient’s death, the numbers come out worse.

In 1999, the Institute of Medicine published the famous “To Err Is Human” report, which dropped a bombshell on the medical community by reporting that up to 98,000 people a year die because of mistakes in hospitals. The number was initially disputed, but is now widely accepted by doctors and hospital officials — and quoted ubiquitously in the media.

In 2010, the Office of Inspector General for the Department of Health and Human Services said that bad hospital care contributed to the deaths of 180,000 patients in Medicare alone in a given year.

Now comes a study in the current issue of the Journal of Patient Safety that says the numbers may be much higher — between 210,000 and 440,000 patients each year who go to the hospital for care suffer some type of preventable harm that contributes to their death.

That would make medical errors the third-leading cause of death in America, behind heart disease, which is the first, and cancer, which is second.

America’s Healthcare System is the Third Leading Cause of Death

Barbara Starfield, M.D. (2000)

• 12,000 deaths per year due to unnecessary surgery

• 7000 deaths per year due to medication errors in hospitals

• 20,000 deaths per year due to other errors in hospitals

• 80,000 deaths per year due to infections in hospitals

• 106,000 deaths per year due to negative effects of drugs

Thus, America’s healthcare-system-induced deaths are the third leading cause of the death in the U.S., after heart disease and cancer.

Death By Medicine pdf

evident that the American medical system is itself the leading cause of death and injury in the … another 216,000 deaths, for a total of 999,936 deaths annually.

“The medical environment has become a labyrinth of interlocking corporate, hospital, and governmental boards of directors, infiltrated by the drug companies.

Drug company representatives write glowing articles about pharmaceuticals, which are then signed by physicians paid handsomely for their cooperation, though they may not know the adverse side effects of the drugs they promote.

The most toxic substances are often approved first, while milder and more natural alternatives are ignored for financial reasons. It’s death by medicine.”

Review

America’s medical system has not only lost its way but has become the leading cause of death and injury in the United States.

That shocking assertion is the premise of this compact but explosive book by Gary Null, an award-winning journalist, public radio host, author of wellness books, and strong proponent of alternative medicine and natural healing.

Null believes the medical field is in serious need of repair; big corporations and the deep-pocketed pharmaceutical industry have effectively hamstrung government agencies and subjugated much of the medical community through threats and financial incentives. The end result? Not only are people not getting the proper care they deserve, they are dying.

In a systematic presentation, the author addresses the plague of needless surgical blunders, negative side effects of corporate drugs, frivolous operations, shameful neglect of the elderly warehoused in rest homes, and research universities’ growing dependency on grant money from big business. All of this is done at the expense of preventive forms of healing. Effective, alternative, and traditional types of care are left out of the loop of money and influence.

“Many complementary healthcare providers are denied publication through the intervention of pharmaceutical companies,” Null writes. “If they or their allopathic colleagues do manage to speak out against corruption in the establishment, they are considered traitors to the medical brotherhood.”

The author makes effective use of headline-grabbing statistics and shocking anecdotal evidence from a wide range of medical sources, including the Journal of the American Medical Association and numerous researchers of note. References and an index are included. The reader learns that 45 million unnecessary and/or inappropriate antibiotics are prescribed annually. About 8.9 million patients are unnecessarily hospitalized each year. Tons of unused drugs are regularly dumped into the water supply, polluting drinking sources.

This book is presented as an exposé, as the title suggests, to reveal cracks in the medical institutions that are killing people. The book is meant to outrage, warn, and light a fire under a citizenry the author hopes will demand reform. Do not look for balance, though. This book does not offer the voices of opposing sides of the argument. Refutations from representatives of “big pharma” won’t be found. The author wanted this vehicle to drive home his message. And it certainly does. (January) Karl Kunkel

TO ERR IS HUMAN:

BUILDING A SAFER HEALTH SYSTEM

Health care in the United States is not as safe as it should be–and can

be. At least 44,000 people, and perhaps as many as 98,000 people, die

in hospitals each year as a result of medical errors that could have

been prevented, according to estimates from two major studies.

To Err is Human: Building a Safer Health System is a report issued in November 1999 by the U.S. Institute of Medicine that may have resulted in increased awareness of U.S. medical errors. The push for patient safety that followed its release continues.

The report was based upon analysis of multiple studies by a variety of organizations and concluded that between 44,000 to 98,000 people die each year as a result of preventable medical errors. For comparison, fewer than 50,000 people died of Alzheimer’s disease and 17,000 died of illicit drug use in the same year.

The report called for a comprehensive effort by health care providers, government, consumers, and others. Claiming knowledge of how to prevent these errors already existed, it set a minimum goal of 50 percent reduction in errors over the next five years. Though not currently quantified, as of 2007 this ambitious goal has yet to be met. – Wiki

DEATH BY DOCTOR: 3rd Leading Cause Of Death In America!

COMMENTS:

Nurses are killers as well! My Mother, Genine Zizzo, is featured in America Tonight’s Exclusive Expose’ “Drugging Dementia-Nursing Home Nightmare”.

My Mom did not have Dementia. She did have a Heart Condition. She was an alert, Independent Woman who still lived in the home I grew up in, but had an accidental fall at home and sprained her back. Hospital X-Ray showed NO Fracture.

Hospital recommended 1 to 2 wks of Physical Therapy in a SNF and then return home. This is the chilling account of how she was FORCIBLY INJECTED by an Unscrupulous Nurse at ROSEVILLE POINT HEALTH AND WELLNESS CENTER with the Dangerous and Powerful Anti-Psychotic Drug Haldol, Against Her Will and Against MY Orders as her Durable and Medical Durable Power Of Attorney.

She died 12 days later in an Irreversible Vegetative State, Dehydrated, a Urinary Tract Infection, Multiple Organ Failure and a FRACTURED SPINE! I will NOT rest until the Malicious Staff are held Accountable for this Crime. Please watch the Story …..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfDfFxRwRMU&feature=youtu.be

I have been injured by doctors looking to cash in on my insurance. I live in a state where doctors are well protected by the state and lawsuit caps are in place.

Awards will go mostly to lawyers. In my case, I have decided just to stay away. Medical care is about money and doctors will do whatever they can con you into to make money.

15,000 Medicare patients a month doesn’t even touch the real figures. Between 210,000 and 740,000 patients die annually and millions are injured. Medical silence is a deadly addition. Ever see a doctor go to jail for being incompetent?

Three years ago my wife was bitten by a tick while working in the garden. Two days later she was paralyzed, in violent pain and lost body functions. I took her to the hospital where the doctor totally ignored me four times when I told him about the tick.

He ordered an MRI, a CAT SCAN and an MRI of her pelvic region along with blood tests. After charging us four months income he said he couldn’t find anything wrong. Totally ignored the tick bite information. I then took her to another MD, told the same story, got ignored, battery of useless test and sent home with shrug of the shoulders. Can’t find anything.

Then I took her to a Nerno MD who ignored me and the tick, charged me another months income and sent her home to die. Two weeks later, as she was close to death a friend advise me to call a Naturopath doctor which I did, unfortunately out of desperation. He came right to the phone, asked me he symptoms, and then asked me “WAS SHE RECENTLY BITTEN BY A MOSQUITO OR TICK”. I Rushed her to him in a wheelchair.

He immediately drew blood which showed the spirochetes rampantly attacking her red blood cells with dead white cells everywhere. How the hell did the two expensive blood test by the MDs miss this? He took her into treatment and four hours later she came out on a walker and smiled at me. Anyway, long story I know. Today she still has remaining problems but she is alive and functioning well.

I will never, ever again go to a MD unless I am in true need of surgery or break a bone. They are arrogant and dangerous for just about anything else. What’s that old joke “what’s the difference between God and a Doctor? God doesn’t think He’s a doctor”.

MD’s have been the leading cause of death in the US for man years. According to the World Health Organization cancer follows next in the US Australia and Canada.

If only there were some rich philanthropists who would tackle Govts AMA FDA and the like in the International Court of Justice for their culpability in millions of unnecessary deaths and suffering worldwide caused by outlawing alternative treatments and slandering alternative practitioners as quacks. I’ll tell you what quackery is.

It’s peddling drugs that do not heal, are foreign to our organic bodies, cause side effects for which more drugs are given.

It’s not caring that patients have one life only and giving chemotherapy for cancer, which causes vomiting, nausea and hair loss and which has a 98% failure rate, sentencing most recipients to death by poisoning or wasting disease. Or removing breasts, prostates, parts of livers, bowels and lungs when proven cancer treatments would leave them cured and whole (refer The Cancer Tutor – a must read.)

Any other business with a 98% failure rate would be censured and shut down but not the all-powerful md’s and drug companies. Only people-power will turn this sorry state around. If the whole 7 billion of us woke up, man that would be POWER. But the sickness industry thrives and staff of the AMA and FDA go to Germany for their HEALTHCARE.

Every one of us will be touched by cancer, but with some research you’ll find out who’s been arrested, gaoled or de-registered for healing or informing and you will come across Sandi Rog, Ty Bollinger, G Edward Griffen, Dr Mark Sircus, Dr Leonard Coldwell, Dr Mercola and many others who wlll show you how to heal or protect yourself & loved ones from the sickness industry and please, when you can, PAY IT FORWARD.

I laid on an operating table for three hours, following a heart attack. It was my third.

I informed the doctor the problem was on the opposite side he insisted on checking (e.g., my pain ran up my right arm, starting at the wrist).

He ignored me, until the last half hour, then checked the other side. He, then, informed me I had suffered damage, but because of the delay in discovering the details of the attack, the damage became permanent.

Too often, doctors think themselves more knowledgeable than the patient, about their body.

Had the marginally competent doctor tending me listened, or called my cardiologist, I might have avoided permanent damage.

I had similar experience, felt ill for over a year and all doctor did was increase my hypertension drugs. Started getting burning up my neck and face and felt awful all the time. told the doctor of my awful family history with heart disease and that my father told me I was experiencing angina.

All he kept asking me was did I experience chest pain, which was not a symptom I had. When I told him what my father had said, this was his exact words to me – “I didn’t study medicine for 7 years and a further five after that to go on the whims of an over anxious father, you are a 47 year old female with no chest pain who does not have heart problems” cutting a long story short, a month later I had a massive heart attack, had apparently suffered a mild heart attack few months previously and went on to have heart surgery which was not successful, now can’t work anymore and have been given a poor long term prognosis.

I had been so scared and ridiculed by this man I was frightened to challenge him. we know our own bodies and should always go with what it tells us.

Hospital = Sick House. For acute conditions such as broken bones, stitches, heart attacks, etc. Go to a hospital or doctor.

If you have chronic conditions like anxiety, insomnia, arthritis, fibromyalgia, etc. Still see your MD, but consider alternative treatments.

Britain’s National Health Service (NHS) their universal healthcare system pays for alternative medicine, i.e. acupuncture, chiropractics, chinese medicine, etc. Why? Because they see results, less MD visits, people are healthier.

I’m a believer. I could testify here to how they have almost killed me but this guy says it all quite succinctly. Just stop it. Stop believing and taking every drug your medical doctor subscribes for you. They are salesmen. You decide what drug is good and which is bad and just look at your doctor for the ones you think are bad and say “No”. Of course your doctor will no longer like you but you will be ALIVE!

ADMIN NOTE:

These are Police Officers…I.E. Policy Overseers.

They don’t make policy, they implement someone else’s policy. They “Oversee” the policy of others. Just like all politicians. The ‘root’ word of politicians is ‘Poli’ or ‘Policy’.

It could stand for ‘Policy Technician/Politician’.

The speculation is that they were chosen, among other things, for their willingness to do whatever they were told to, without question. Just like Police Officers and the Military everywhere. “Obey without question”.

The Battle is not with Policy Overseers, they are hired and do what they are to. If they don’t, they will be fired, and someone else will be hired/put in place, who is ‘willing to obey without question’ and implement the ‘Policy’ they were put in place to do.

The Battle is with “POLICY” not Policy Overseers.

And the battle is not with them, but within ourselves.

We must “Create” an alternative, something better. so that their “Policy” itself, is Negated, and becomes a part of a bad history, no longer needed or workable.
