Scott Elbert allowed a hit in a scoreless seventh inning in his third game with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga and fourth overall game on his minor league rehab assignment. Chris Rodriguez of Baseball Prospectus was in attendance, and offered his opinion:

Elbert, who began the rehab assignment on June 18 in Ogden, will move next to Triple-A Albuquerque, per Quakes broadcaster Brandon Liebhaber.

Minor League Player of the Day
Lookouts starter Chris Reed allowed two runs, one earned, in six innings with five strikeouts and two walks in a no-decision. After allowing seven runs in a start on June 12, Reed utilized the All-Star break to have eight days rest before his next outing. In his two starts since the break Reed has allowed one earned run in 13 innings to lower his ERA to 2.91.
Triple-A Albuquerque
Steve Smith pitched three scoreless innings of relief but in his fourth inning allowed three runs to take the loss in a 6-3 loss to the Reno Aces (Diamondbacks) in 14 innings. The Isotopes were down 3-0 in the eighth inning when catcher Tim Federowicz drove in two runs with a single. With two outs in the ninth inning shortstop Walter Ibarra homered to send the game into extra innings. Starting pitcher Drew Carpenter allowed two unearned runs in five innings in his Isotopes debut.
Matt Magill allowed a run on two hits in 1⅓ innings in relief, with two walks and a strikeout. He has allowed six runs on eight hits over 2⅔ innings in his last three outings, with four walks and three strikeouts. Pedro Baez struck out two in a scoreless inning of relief and since getting promoted to Triple-A has 14 strikeouts and three walks to go with his 3.00 ERA in 12 innings.
Double-A Chattanooga
A pitchers' duel turned into an extra-inning contest, a 3-2 Lookouts loss in 11 innings to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Reds). O`Koyea Dickson was 2-for-5 with a double, and Darnell Sweeney was 1-for-5 with a double to extend his hitting streak to 12 games, matching his longest of the season.
The Lookouts nearly won the game in nine innings. In a 2-2 tie with catcher J.C. Boscan on second base, Noel Cuevas singled up the middle, but center fielder Yorman Rodriguez threw out Boscan at the plate to send the game into extra innings.
Advanced Class-A Rancho Cucamonga
Third baseman Steven Proscia delivered an RBI double in the seventh inning on his birthday to give the Quakes a 2-1 win over the Inland Empire 66ers (Angels) in San Bernardino. Proscia's double scored Robbie Garvey, who was 2-for-3 with a triple and a walk on the night. Corey Seager, still a Quake, was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI double.
Class-A Great Lakes
First baseman Webster Rivas was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, and scored a run, but it was the only run scored in a 3-1 loss to the South Bend Silver Hawks (Diamondbacks). Zachary Bird allowed two runs in five innings but suffered the loss.
Rookie-level Ogden
The Raptors trailed the Orem Owls (Angels) 1-0 in the second inning when the game was suspended by rain.
Rookie-level Arizona
Alex Verdugo, the Dodgers' second-round pick in the 2014 draft, was 2-for-5 with a double, a stolen base, a run scored and an RBI in the AZL Dodgers' 7-5 win over the AZL Brewers. A pair of 2014 draft picks made their professional debuts in relief. Bubby Rossman, the 22nd-round pick out of Cal State Dominguez Hills, struck out three in two perfect innings. Harlan Richter, the 27th-rounder out of Bossier Parish Community College in Louisiana, walked one and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning for the save.
Minor League Transactions
Joc Pederson was placed on the seven-day disabled list with his Grade 1 right shoulder separation, and outfielder Brian Cavazos-Galvez was promoted from Double-A Chattanooga to Triple-A. Cavazos-Galvez delivered a pinch-hit single and scored in the eighth inning. With first baseman Clint Robinson promoted to the Dodgers, the Isotopes also added catcher John Cannon to the roster on Thursday.

The Raptors will resume their suspended game against Orem at 2:30 p.m. PT. After the completion of that nine-inning game, both teams will play a seven-inning game. Abdiel Velasquez is slated to start for Ogden. ... Carlos Frias starts the first game of a doubleheader against Trevor Cahill and Reno. The pair of seven-inning games begin at 4:05 p.m., with both teams undecided on their second game starters. ... Brandon Martinez starts for the Loons back at home against the Lansing Lugnuts (Blue Jays) at 4:05 p.m. ... Andres Santiago starts for Chattanooga against Pensacola at 4:15 p.m. ...
